Job Description

As a Network Test Engineer at Google, you'll ensure the company's massive network operates at peak performance. You'll leverage your experience with complex networking equipment, deep understanding of networking protocols, and expertise in test design and implementation. Responsibilities include identifying and reporting bugs, developing and executing test plans (including automated scripts), managing testing and releases of networking products, and collaborating with cross-functional teams on test plans and results. This role involves working with Google's cutting-edge technology at scale and contributing to the development and improvement of Google's network infrastructure.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree in CS/EE or equivalent
2+ years network equipment & protocol testing
Test methodologies, planning, case creation
Test automation (Python or C++)
Bug identification and escalation
Manage testing and releases

Good to have:

Network Infrastructure experience
Python, TCP/IP, Networking Protocols

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience with network equipment and network protocols testing and debugging.
Experience with test methodologies, writing test plans and creating test cases.
Experience in test automation using Python or C++.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience with Network Infrastructure, Python, Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and Networking Protocols.

As a Networking Test Engineer you make sure that our massive and growing network is operating at its peak potential. You have experience with complex networking equipment, a deep understanding of networking protocols, test design and implementation chops and a background in IP network design. It's your job to make sure Google's cutting-edge technology can perform at scale. Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $117,000-$172,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

Identify and report bugs, including escalating issues to senior engineers or managers.
Develop and execute test plans, including contributing to device hardware and software by developing automated scripts and running regression on existing Google platforms.
Manage testing and releases of networking products, including managing timelines and project plans.
Write and review test plans with teams, including identifying and gathering requirements to test networking features of a moderate to high-complexity project, participate in cross-functional reviews with related teams which cover test plans and test results.
