As a Principal Cloud Engineer at Epic Games, you will provide technical leadership for the Governance and Platform Infrastructure (GPI) organization. Responsibilities include owning the technical vision and strategic planning for GPI, building partnerships with internal and external teams, driving execution of strategic initiatives, and mentoring an engineering team. You will work across Epic to ensure alignment and accountability with partner and customer teams, collaborating with product management, software engineering, and cloud engineering to prioritize roadmaps. Maintaining high operational health of tools and defining effectiveness metrics are key. The role requires deep cloud technology expertise (especially AWS), experience leading high-performing teams, and a strong ability to drive change across large organizations.

What You'll Do

Your primary responsibility will be technical leadership of our Governance and Platform Infrastructure (GPI) organization, which will focus on building technical alignment and partnerships with external and internal engineering and product teams and technical leaders. You will leverage your strong technical leadership skills as you play a key role in improving, scaling, and operating cloud infrastructure services.

In this role, you will

  • Own and drive the technical vision and strategic planning across all of GPI
  • Be accountable for building and maintaining technical alignment and partnerships with teams and technical leaders within GPI
  • Drive the outcomes, delivery, and execution of strategic initiatives within GPI. This includes contributing individually to the project as needed to support teams and outcomes
  • Work across Epic to ensure that you are driving alignment and accountability with partner and customer teams
  • Build, grow, and mentor an engineering team that balances technical expertise with customer focus and a growth mindset to deliver consistently
  • Partner closely with product management, software engineering, and cloud engineering teams to ensure that your roadmap is appropriately prioritized to drive meaningful outcomes
  • Maintain a high bar for the quality and operational health of the tools that our teams build and define the metrics used to measure the effectiveness of our system

What we're looking for

  • A proven track record of driving technical leadership of high-performing engineering teams and cultures
  • Strong desire to level up and grow the leadership talent around you through mentorship and coaching
  • Experience optimizing for budgetary efficiency. Ensuring that the budget is spent in the areas it will positively impact players the most
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work across teams to understand the technical and non-technical needs of diverse stakeholders
  • Experience working across large organizational and business unit boundaries to help drive change and build alignment with customers and partners
  • Knowledge of modern developer platforms and industry standards for developer tooling and practices
  • Deep understanding of cloud technologies, especially Amazon Web Services
  • An ability to drive a long-term vision for improving cloud infrastructure and services through continual iterative improvements
  • A desire and willingness to jump into the weeds and do engineering work as needed to deliver strategic outcomes for the organization

This role is open to multiple locations across the US (including CA, NYC, & WA).

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).

California Base Pay Range
$235,000$330,000 USD
Washington Base Pay Range
$214,000$313,000 USD
