Job Description

This RTL Design Engineer role at Google Cloud involves contributing to the design and development of custom silicon solutions for Google's direct-to-consumer products. The successful candidate will participate in the entire SoC design cycle, from architecture definition to production. Responsibilities include RTL coding, block-level simulations, collaborating with design and verification engineers, and contributing to high-performance, low-power ASIC designs. The role requires strong expertise in Verilog, high-speed interfaces (PCIe, InfiniBand), micro-architecture, and design verification. The engineer will work closely with various teams to ensure designs meet performance and quality standards. They will lead complex ASIC subsystems, define hardware/software interfaces, and create efficient micro-architectures.

Must have:

5+ years RTL development experience using Verilog
Experience with PCIe, InfiniBand interfaces
Expertise in micro-architecture, design verification
Logic synthesis and timing closure experience
ASIC subsystem design leadership

Good to have:

Scripting languages (Python, Perl)
Knowledge of arithmetic units, processor design
High-performance and low-power design techniques
FPGA, emulation platforms, and SoC architecture knowledge
Assertion-based formal verification

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience with RTL development for ASIC subsystems using Verilog.
Experience with speed interfaces such as PCIe, InfiniBand, and their low latency, security, and reliability principles.
Experience with micro architecture, design, verification, logic synthesis, and timing closure.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python or Perl).
Knowledge of arithmetic units, bus architectures, processor design, accelerators, or memory hierarchies.
Knowledge of high performance and low power design techniques.
Knowledge of FPGA, emulation platforms, and SoC architecture.
Knowledge of assertion-based formal verification.

You will collaborate with design and verification engineers in projects, creating architecture definitions with Register-Transfer Level (RTL) coding, and running block level simulations. You will contribute in ASIC designs from design specification to production. You will collaborate with members of architecture, software, verification, power, timing, synthesis and more to specify and deliver high quality SoC/RTL. You will also solve technical problems with innovative micro-architecture and practical logic solutions, and evaluate design options with performance, power, and area in mind.

Responsibilities

Lead a complex ASIC subsystem.
Understand how it interacts with software and other ASIC subsystems to implement groundbreaking data centers.
Define high-performance hardware/software interfaces. Write micro architecture and design specifications.
Define efficient micro-architecture and block partitioning/interfaces and flows.
Collaborate closely with software, verification, and physical design stakeholders to ensure the designs are complete, correct, and performant.
