Uken is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Artist for a remote position. The Senior Artist will be responsible for creating 2D art and UI art assets for cross-platform games, collaborating with game designers and programmers, and providing guidance to junior artists. The ideal candidate will have experience with concept and rendering, UI design, and 3D tools. The role involves taking ownership of the art in games, from ideation to implementation. The company emphasizes a fun and collaborative work environment with a 4-day workweek.
Must have:
  • Create 2D art and UI assets.
  • 5+ years of game industry art experience.
  • Expertise in painting and rendering illustrations.
  • Outstanding design skills: color, form, lighting, composition.
  • Experience with UI design for games.
  • Proficient with Photoshop and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Proficient with 3D tools (ie. Blender).
  • Experience working with Unity to implement assets.
  • Adaptability to work within specific styles.
  • Familiarity with agile work environments.
Good to have:
  • Regular gamer with experience in a range of games.

Job Details

Uken is looking for a talented and experienced Senior Artist - 2D who is keen on applying their skills towards working on a flagship product. We're looking for someone who loves games and is up to date on the state of the game and tech industries. You will be working directly with the game teams and designers to build interfaces and illustrated assets for cross-platform and cross-device games.


As a Ukenite, you'll be working on meaningful things like:

  • Creating 2D Art and UI Art Assets
  • Taking ownership of the art in our games, from ideation to implementation
  • Collaborating closely with game designers and programmers
  • Working on a variety of platforms - iOS, Android, and Unity
  • Providing guidance and mentorship to junior artists


Your background should include: 

  • Impressive portfolio showcasing concept and rendering abilities, as well as UI
  • 5+ years of game industry art experience 
  • Demonstrated expertise in painting and rendering stylized illustrations with a 3D look
  • Outstanding design skills: color, form, lighting, composition, anatomy, and aesthetic appeal
  • Skilled in character, prop, and background design
  • Experience with UI design for games, including HUDs and in-game elements
  • Familiar with design tools and principles such as wireframes, user flows, and iconography
  • Proficient in quick sketching and visualizing ideas based on written descriptions or discussions
  • Experience with Photoshop and the Adobe Creative Suite 
  • Proficient with 3D tools (ie. Blender) as part of the illustration workflow
  • Experience working with Unity to implement assets
  • Adaptability to work within specific styles, as defined by other artists or art directors
  • Familiarity with agile work environments
  • Comfortable with giving and receiving feedback
