Your Mission 
The Biome Team collaborates with the Design and Art departments to craft and bring to life our environments. In line with Art Direction and environment leads your role will be to maintain artistic unity throughout the game.  Considering the biome's importance to player immersion, participating in playtests and offering feedback to the level design team is crucial to delivering an optimal experience that focuses on the player, ensuring a true-to-life appearance within established technical limitations. 
 


Qualifications:   

  • Shipped title experience as biome artist or similar title on open world AAA games. 

 
 

Responsibilities 

  • Collaborating with the Art Director and environment team leads, you'll maintain artistic unity throughout the game and assist in evolving the world from its prototype stage to the finished artwork 

  • Responsible for reviewing, critiquing and providing feedback where necessary 

  • Responsible for working closely with the technical art team to ensure biome content complies with all technical specifications and constraints 

  • Collaborate with other leads and directors across various departments, including art, to maintain open communication and teamwork 

  • Possess an understanding of ecology and geography with a passion for learning and understanding 

  • Assist in the planning of biome asset rosters 

  • Scout ideal scanning locations and create asset requests  

  • Create blockout assets for asset requests to use in biome prototyping 

  • Create procedural rulesets to replicate the natural world of a variety of biomes

  • Manipulate and create realistic representative heightmaps of real world locations and geological features 

  • Ability to create high quality 3D organic environments or assets utilizing scan data and modern workflows for modeling, texturing, and baking to enhance the visual fidelity of your ecosystems 

  • Set dressing and world building in engine 

  • Be responsive to issues of quality, and performance, and the fixing and troubleshooting of bugs for both graphics and gameplay 

  • Oversee and mentor both internal and external artists on the creation of foliage and biome rulesets and assets  

  • Setup and organize dioramas and vertical slices for visual and gameplay review

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $80,800.00 - $149,400.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed. While we strive to provide competitive offers to successful candidates, new hire compensation is negotiable.
