We're looking for a Senior Game Systems Engineering Manager to join our team at Hypixel Studios, which collaborates remotely from around the world. Our members range from industry newcomers to experts with 25+ years of experience. As a Senior Game Systems Engineering Manager, you will support and develop both senior engineers and growing engineering managers through a combination of coaching, direction-setting, career management and some hands-on engineering. Your teams will design, prototype, and implement the fundamental systems which underpin Hytale’s game systems and gameplay.

Some of your role:
- Manage a mix of 3-8 managers and individual contributors, including career planning, performance management, goal setting, review writing, and review delivery
- Lead senior technologists in architecting and designing Game Systems to empower creators and technologists to create Hytale’s gameplay experiences
- Work closely with Product Owners and engineers to align the technical vision of the tech owned by teams in your area to the design objectives for the product
- Coach technologists to scope and estimate deliverables, then work closely with Producers to build and maintain a roadmap of product milestones based on that data
- Plan and execute long term strategies that benefit your team, the product, and the studio
Essential Traits:
- 6+ years of professional programming experience in C++ or similar language
- 4+ years as a manager, tech-lead, or in a similar leadership role, including experience with recruiting, leading individual contributors and managers, goal setting, organization design, and performance management
- 2+ years working in a game engine (commercial or proprietary)
- Values-driven and results-oriented. You are highly comfortable setting goals, identifying appropriate KPIs and measuring outcomes.
Bonus Traits:
- Experience working with Agile delivery
- Experience working on voxel world games and/or sandbox games
- Experience implementing in ECS systems or Data-Oriented Development
- Experience with console and/or mobile platform development
- Experience implementing one or more Game Systems, such as Environments, Character Controls, Combat, Animation, Camera, Physics, Inventory, etc
