Description

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Gameplay Engineer to spearhead our gameplay engineering team at Sovrun. This leadership role is integral to developing innovative and engaging game products that set new standards in the industry. The Gameplay Engineering Lead will oversee multiple game development projects, leveraging their deep expertise in Unreal and/or Unity to deliver cutting-edge player experiences. This role demands a strong leader with a proven track record in both gameplay programming and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the gameplay engineering team to develop multiple game products, ensuring each product meets quality and performance standards.
  • Collaborate with game designers, artists, and other developers to understand gameplay requirements, translate them into functional features, and bring game concepts to life.
  • Implement, optimize, and debug gameplay systems, mechanics, and features using C++ or C#, focusing on performance, scalability, and player experience.
  • Oversee gameplay testing, gather feedback, and iterate on features to enhance engagement and usability.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in gameplay and game development, integrating these insights into team processes.
  • Document gameplay systems, mechanics, and processes to ensure consistency and transparency across projects and teams.
  • Mentor and support junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance engineering culture.

Requirements

  • Experience: Proven experience in a senior or lead gameplay programming role, with hands-on experience in team leadership and project management in game development.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Advanced proficiency in C++ or C# programming languages.
    • In-depth knowledge of game engines, especially Unreal Engine or Unity.
    • Solid understanding of ECS and Full Stack principles.
  • Leadership Skills:
    • Strong ability to manage, mentor, and inspire a cross-functional gameplay engineering team.
    • Experience in guiding teams through complex technical challenges and delivering high-quality, optimized gameplay experiences.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with attention to detail and an ability to resolve performance bottlenecks.
  • Industry Passion: Deep passion for gaming, with a commitment to staying on top of industry trends and evolving gameplay technologies.
