Key responsibilities include managing tax filings, overseeing tax exemption certificates, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The role involves staying updated on tax developments and leading special projects, including M&A and integrations. This position requires strong technical knowledge of sales and use tax, project management skills, and experience with tax software.
Must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 10-12 years of indirect tax experience.
  • Strong tax technical knowledge of sales and use tax.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
  • Project management and leadership skills.
Good to have:
  • Experience with Oracle ERP systems.
  • Experience with OneSource/Sabrix sales and use tax software.
  • Experience with Alteryx is a plus.

Title:  Senior Manager - U.S. Indirect Tax

This role is full-time onsite in our Palo Alto, California office reporting to the Sr. Director of Domestic Tax.

As a Tax Senior Manager, you are an expert in your field and will:

Job Description:

  • Be the subject matter expert on indirect tax for BU guidance, new products, initiatives, strategies focusing on taxation of software from a selling perspective and California partial manufacturing and R&D exemption
  • Be responsible for U.S. indirect tax compliance and coordinate with external service providers for sales and use tax and property taxes filings
  • Lead indirect tax audits, tax controversies, inquiries, and refund claims
  • Lead annual property tax compliance using outside consultants
  • Embrace, identify and drive indirect tax process improvements, automation, and workflows
  • Maintain OneSource/Sabrix transaction tax software, oversee customer tax exemption certificates and identify system setup issues
  • Be the liaison with cross-functional teams on indirect tax issues (Finance, Business Units, Sales, Accounts Payable, Credit & Collections, Procurement, IT)
  • Monitor new tax developments and legislative changes; proactively identify impact and solutions
  • Lead special projects, M&A, integrations as needed
  • Supervise 1 direct report

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 12+ years of indirect tax experience required (combined public accounting and software/technology industry) or Master’s degree and 10+ years
  • Strong tax technical knowledge of sales and use tax related to software, sourcing, manufacturing
  • Intermediate-to-Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, modeling, forecasting
  • Project management and leadership skills to work proactively and manage competing priorities
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational and communication skills
  • Experience with Oracle ERP systems
  • Experience with OneSource/Sabrix sales and use tax software
  • Experience with Alteryx is a plus
