Job Description

This Senior Staff Software Engineer role at Google focuses on AI/ML within Google Cloud Compute. Responsibilities include designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing large-scale software solutions. Must have:

8+ years software development experience
7+ years leading ML projects & infrastructure optimization
5+ years design, architecture, testing & launching software products
Experience with speech/audio, reinforcement learning, or other ML fields
Strong data structures & algorithms skills

Good to have:

Master's or PhD in a related field
Technical leadership experience in a matrixed organization

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
7 years of experience leading technical project strategy, ML design, and optimizing industry-scale ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging, fine tuning).
5 years of experience with design and architecture; and testing/launching software products.
5 years of experience with one or more of the following: Speech/audio (e.g., technology duplicating and responding to the human voice), reinforcement learning (e.g., sequential decision making), ML infrastructure, or specialization in another ML field.

Preferred qualifications:

Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $237,000-$337,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
