Job Description

ByteDance seeks Site Reliability Engineers for its data infrastructure team. Responsibilities include participating in the full service lifecycle (design, development, deployment, operation), designing and implementing software platforms and monitoring frameworks for SOA, developing and managing cloud-managed data infrastructure components (Kubernetes, Redis, MySQL, Flink), establishing scalable systems through automation, providing user support and managing incident responses. The ideal candidate will have experience with programming (C, C++, Java, Python, Go, or Rust), Unix/Linux systems, system administration, and automation tools (Kubernetes or Docker).

Must have:

Master's or Bachelor's degree in related field
1+ year experience in programming (C, C++, Java, Python, Go, or Rust)
1+ year experience with Unix/Linux system internals
1+ year experience with system administration
1+ year experience with automation tools like Kubernetes or Docker

Responsibilities Participate in and enhance the complete service lifecycle, from inception and design, through development, capacity planning, launch reviews, deployment, operation, and refinement. Design and implement software platforms and monitoring frameworks to govern service-oriented architecture (SOA) efficiently, automatically, and intelligently. Develop and manage components of cloud-managed data infrastructure, encompassing technologies such as Kubernetes, Redis, MySQL, Flink, and more. Establish sustainable mechanisms for scaling systems, such as automation, to drive enhancements in reliability, efficiency, and velocity. Provide sustainable user support, manage incident responses, and conduct blameless postmortems as part of our ongoing efforts to improve our systems.

Qualifications

Qualifications Must have a Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any), Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related field, and 1 year of related work experience; OR a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any), Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related field, and 2 years of related work experience. Of the required experience, must have 1 year of experience in each of the following: Programming in one of the following languages: C, C++, Java, Python, Go or Rust; Working with Unix/Linux system internals, networking, and distributed systems; Working with systems administration, including scripting in Bash, Perl, or Python to automate routine tasks; Utilizing automation tools and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or Docker to improve system scalability and manageability. Travel Requirement: Domestic and/or International travel up to 5% required. 【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (Annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $163862 - $237500 annually.​
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.​
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).​
