Job Description

DAZN seeks a Software Development Lead to lead a team focusing on post-production defect analysis, resolution, and maintenance for mobile and TV applications (Android, Android TV, iOS, Apple TV). Responsibilities include defect analysis and resolution, acting as a bridge between Android and iOS teams, providing technical leadership and mentorship, collaborating with QA and support teams, and improving processes. The ideal candidate will have 6-10 years of experience in Android and iOS development, expertise in debugging, and strong leadership and communication skills. Experience with TV app development, video streaming protocols, and Agile methodologies is also required.

Must have:

Android (Kotlin, Java) and iOS (Swift, Objective-C) development proficiency
Expertise in debugging tools and techniques
Experience in resolving production issues in live applications
Strong leadership and communication skills
Familiarity with video streaming protocols and playback libraries

Good to have:

Experience with TV application development (Android TV, Apple TV)
Familiarity with analytics and monitoring tools
Knowledge of Agile methodologies and tools

We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Cross-Skilled Development Lead with expertise in both Android and iOS development. This role is critical in leading a dedicated team focused on post-production defect analysis, resolution, and maintenance for mobile and TV applications across Android Mobile, Android TV, iOS Mobile, and Apple TV platforms.

As a hands-on leader, you will guide the team in delivering high-quality fixes, ensuring quick turnaround times while maintaining the stability and performance of live applications. Your ability to seamlessly navigate both Android and iOS ecosystems, coupled with leadership and debugging expertise, will play a vital role in enhancing the user experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Defect Analysis & Resolution

Take ownership of development and post-production defect management for Android and iOS platforms.
Perform root cause analysis of reported issues and guide the team in implementing robust fixes.
Ensure all fixes adhere to coding standards and best practices, maintaining application stability and performance.

Cross-Platform Expertise

Act as the bridge between Android and iOS teams, ensuring consistency in features, user experience, and performance.
Lead the evaluation and integration of cross-platform solutions when applicable (e.g., shared code libraries).

Technical Leadership

Lead a cross-skilled team of engineers, providing technical guidance and mentorship.
Review code changes for bug fixes, ensuring high-quality standards.
Define processes and best practices for efficient defect resolution and continuous improvement.

Collaboration & Communication

Collaborate closely with QA, support teams, and stakeholders to understand reported issues and prioritize resolutions.
Work with backend teams to debug and resolve cross-platform issues.
Regularly update project managers and stakeholders on defect trends, resolution timelines, and risks.

Process Improvement

Identify recurring issues and recommend proactive measures to prevent them.
Optimize the defect management process to improve resolution times and reduce production downtimes.

Qualifications & Skills

Educational Background:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

Experience:

6 to 10 years of experience in software development with a strong focus on Android and iOS platforms.
Proven experience in debugging and resolving production issues in live applications.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in Android development (Kotlin, Java) and iOS development (Swift, Objective-C).
Expertise in debugging tools and techniques for both platforms (e.g., Android Studio, Xcode, Crashlytics, etc.)
Familiarity with video streaming protocols (HLS, DASH) and playback libraries (ExoPlayer, AVFoundation).
Solid understanding of version control (Git) and CI/CD processes.
