Job Description

The Software Engineer II role at Microsoft focuses on building and maintaining data processing systems, dashboards, and user interfaces related to compliance and accountability within Microsoft 365. This position involves working with various engineering, security, and compliance teams to meet the needs of regulated customers. Responsibilities include collaborating with stakeholders to define requirements, developing and implementing code using Azure services, monitoring system performance, and proactively seeking improvements. The ideal candidate will have experience with Azure-based services and programming languages like C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python. They will also possess strong problem-solving skills and be able to work effectively in a team environment.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in CS or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in software engineering
  • Azure-based service development
  • Proficient in at least one programming language (C#, Java, JavaScript, Python etc.)
  • Collaborate with stakeholders
Good to have:
  • React based web portal development
  • Master's degree in Computer Science
  • 4+ years of experience

As a Software Engineer II on this team, the candidate will work with a team of software engineers to deliver on complex data processing requirements, score carding dashboards, intuitive user experiences that improve accountability while reducing manual toil for the broader organizations. This opportunity will allow them to understand the needs of regulated customers and organizations, learn and utilize the latest data processing capabilities of Azure, and learn strategies for engaging effectively with complex organizations and systems.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience developing Azure-based services.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience developing REACT based web portals

Responsibilities

  • Works with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a feature. 
  • Supports identification of dependencies, and the development of design documents for a product feature with oversight. 
  • With guidance, learns to create and implement code for a product, service, or feature reusing code as applicable. 
  • Assists and learns about breaking down work items into tasks and provides estimation. 
  • Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) in monitoring system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions for simple problems, and recommends actions to restore system/product/service by following the playbook. 
  • Reviews current developments and proactively seeks new knowledge that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
