Job Description

The Pixel Biometrics team at Google seeks a Software Engineer III to develop large-scale data ingestion and processing pipelines. Responsibilities include building systems to fine-tune, evaluate, and visualize ML system performance; handling face authentication model releases for Pixel devices; and expanding authentication infrastructure. This role requires experience building large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, software development (C, C++, Java, Python, Go), data structures, and algorithms. The ideal candidate will have experience with performance analysis, visualization tools, and debugging, and a passion for developing accessible technologies.
Must have:
  • 2+ years experience building large-scale infrastructure
  • 2+ years software development experience
  • 2+ years experience with data structures/algorithms
  • Proficiency in C, C++, Java, Python, or Go
  • Develop large scale data pipelines
  • Build ML system performance evaluation systems
Good to have:
  • Master's/PhD in CS or related field
  • Experience with performance analysis and debugging
  • Experience developing accessible technologies

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in either an
    academic or industry setting.
  • Experience coding in one or more of the following programming languages (e.g., C, C++, Java, Python, Go).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • 2 years of experience with performance, large scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, and/or debugging.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
  • Proficiency in code and system health, diagnosis and resolution, and software test engineering.

  • Expand existing authentication infrastructure stack to support other devices and ML teams.
