Job Description

As a Java Engineer, you will work on solutions enabling payment terminals by orchestrating payments through integration with different Adyen systems. You will design, develop, test, and deliver high-volume, low-latency applications for payment systems, collaborating with various teams including design, product, and other engineers within Payments Solution. You will define and monitor performance KPIs, considering how businesses would consume and benefit from your changes, and collaborate to implement new services with reliability, infrastructure, data, and development in mind. This role involves an open communication/feedback culture and participation in engineering best practices, scalable architecture design, and product roadmap discussions.
Must have:
  • 5+ years experience with Core Java, web services, REST APIs and SQL/PostgreSQL.
  • Investigate alternatives and technologies for architectural review.
Good to have:
  • Experience using Messaging Queues(Redis/Kafka), Caching, Jenkins, Gradle.

Payment Solution

In Payments solution, we build and improve integrations at a global scale for in-store and online payments. We make sure that our merchants and partners have a seamless integration with the Adyen platform and a smooth payment experience.

At In-Person Payments we maximize the potential and the resilience of our payment solutions. The ambition is to expand geographically and support local payment methods so we can grow from 300k to 5 million payment terminals in the field. Our processed volume from 100 bn to 1 TRILLION! Everything we do is about scaling for the future, it’s super exciting. 

What you’ll do:

As a Java Engineer you will work on solutions enabling our payment terminals by orchestrating payments through integration with different Adyen systems.

  • You will design, develop, test and deliver high-volume, low-latency applications for payment systems.
  • Work cross-functionally with design, product and other engineers within Payments Solution.
  • Define, implement and monitor performance KPIs to quickly identify opportunities for improvement in existing systems
  • Think about how businesses would consume and benefit from your changes
  • Collaborate with different teams to design and implement new services with reliability/infra/data/dev in mind.
  • Collaborate in a team environment with an open communication/feedback culture
  • Play an important role in areas including but not limited to: engineering best practices, scalable architecture design, product roadmap discussions.

Who you are:

  • You have 5+ years experience with Core Java, web services, REST APIs and SQL/PostgreSQL
  • You participate in continuous improvements by investigating alternatives and technologies and presenting these for architectural review
  • You like to challenge the status quo and ask the ‘why’ question
  • You have a sharp eye for detail, like to work precisely yet pragmatic
  • You know how to get things done while reaching out and involving other people to hear different perspectives
  • Good to have experience using Messaging Queues(Redis/Kafka), Caching, Jenkins, Gradle.
