Job Description

As a Software Engineer, Search Platforms Query Sourcing at Google, you'll empower engineers and analysts to efficiently test and evaluate search products. This involves developing configuration tools, a common interface for defining query sets, and retrieving queries from external systems. You'll ensure all queries meet policy and security standards, simplifying the query management process and building reliable pipelines. Responsibilities include developing systems for data analysis and usage tracking, constructing data pipelines for log scraping and annotated dataset creation, and building services, pipelines, and storage solutions for log processing and data generation. The role demands proficiency in Java, Go, C++, or similar languages and experience in software platform engineering.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree in CS or related field
2+ years software platform engineering experience
2+ years Java, Go, C++ experience
Develop & implement data analysis systems
Build data pipelines and tools

Good to have:

Statistical analysis experience
Experience running experiments
Machine Learning experience
Experience presenting technical requirements

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience working in software platform engineering with programming experience.
2 years of experience with Java, Go, C++, or other programming languages.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience with statistical analysis, running experiments, logging or developing features.
Experience developing data pipelines and building systems for monitoring those pipelines.
Experience with Machine Learning (e.g., query classifiers).
Experience presenting technical requirements to engineering teams.

About the job

In this role, you will be responsible for helping engineers and analysts find the queries to test and evaluate the products by providing configuration, tooling, and a common interface for defining sets of queries and retrieving those queries from outside systems.

You will be meeting the user needs while maintaining reliability for the pipeline by ensuring all queries used meet policy and security requirements, providing the requested queries, simplifying the process for building and managing sets of queries. You will be working on building services, pipelines, and storage solutions to process logs and produce data sets.
