Software QA Engineer

Job Description

Responsibilities: 

• Ensure timely, effective, and high-quality delivery of web application software into production.
• Work with Software Developers and QA Engineers to drive client projects to completion.
• Collaborate across local and global teams to prevent, report, track and resolve defects.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including building User Stories, Sprint Planning, and Project Retrospectives.
• Create and maintain detailed test plans.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Business Analysts and Quality Assurance staff throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Consult on project estimates and user experience reviews.
• Help mentor and train other QA staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in manual, front-end UI testing on enterprise-level web applications.
• Familiarity with a variety of testing types and best practices: Regression, Performance, Unit, Smoke, Integration, etc.
• Usage of browser inspection console (“Developer Tools”) along with good understanding of HTML and CSS.
• Familiarity with device testing and/or device emulation tools to perform browser compatibility testing. 
• Familiarity testing and verification of both Microservice and REST API endpoints.
• Experience using JIRA. Proficient at communicating using JIRA comments, building and documenting testing evidence, etc.
• Understanding of Agile methodology, principles and processes.
• Past experience working in Agile Sprints.
• Proven ability to write detailed project and testing documentation.
• Gather and/or coordinate collection of test data and execute test scripts, documenting and analyzing any program flaws or issues. 
• Test activities include retesting software fixes or enhancements and ensuring reported problems are resolved.
• Willingness to provide/share basic knowledge to juniors.
• Ability to learn new technology, and improve legacy systems.
• Strong interpersonal skills are required. You’ll be working with junior developers, senior developers, QA associates and business associates.
• Effective interpersonal communication across various levels of the organization, external customers and vendors.
• Proven ability to deliver within a small, focused, development team in a fast-moving environment.
• You are proactive, assertive, and have a great attitude!

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Familiarity and understanding of ADA accessibility guidelines and analysis tools.
• Excellent knowledge of Agile methodologies and other software development best practices, tools, development processes to optimize product engineering throughput and quality
• Basic knowledge in SQL and Mainframe searches.
• Experience using the X-Ray JIRA testing extension to track test script execution and test plans.
• Knowledge of Behavior Driven Development (BDD) and/or Test Driven Development (TDD).
• Knowledge of Continuous Integration (CI) and Open Source Testing tools.
• Familiarity with open-source testing tools (Selenium, Java, Cucumber, Gherkin).
• Ability to collect debug log on Android using ADB.
• Ability to identify the session information from a web browser and relate it to system logs. (Understanding of cookies, session ID, JVMs, etc.)
