Job Description

The Technical Solutions Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure Compute at Google Cloud will manage customer problems through diagnosis and resolution, developing an understanding of Google's product technology and underlying architectures. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and root cause analysis of customer issues, building diagnostic tools, and consulting with internal stakeholders to resolve technical deployment obstacles. The role involves working with multiple product and engineering teams to improve products and interacting with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams. This position requires strong coding skills (4 years experience), experience with cloud technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, system virtualization, cloud security), and excellent customer advocacy skills. The successful candidate will be available for non-standard work hours, potentially including weekends.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years experience in Web Tech, Data/Big Data, Systems Admin, ML, Networking, Kubernetes, Oracle, or SAP
  • 4+ years coding or system design experience
  • Customer troubleshooting and advocacy
  • Manage customer issues on GCP products

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience with two or more of the following: Web Tech, Data/Big Data, Systems Admin, Machine Learning, Networking, Kubernetes, Oracle, SAP.
  • 4 years of experience coding in a general purpose coding language or in system design, and troubleshooting and advocating for customers' needs, and triaging technical issues.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with Kubernetes, system virtualization, on-premise or hybrid cloud computing, cloud identity and security system, cloud monitoring and logging, or local and cloud storage.
  • Experience with SQL database administration, Google App Engine, open source software communities, cloud networking solutions, or distributed computing technology.
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix or Windows systems.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the customer’s problem through diagnosis, resolution, or implementation of new investigation tools to increase productivity for customer issues on Google Cloud Platform products.
  • Develop an understanding of Google's product technology and underlying architectures by troubleshooting, reproducing, determining the root cause for customer reported issues, and building tools for faster diagnosis.
  • Act as a consultant for internal stakeholders in engineering, sales, and customer organizations to resolve technical deployment obstacles and improve Google Cloud.
  • Work with multiple product and engineering teams to find ways to improve the product, and interact with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams to drive production.
  • Be available for non-standard work hours or shifts which may include weekend.
