Job Description

The Technical Solutions Engineer, Cloud Infrastructure Compute at Google Cloud will manage customer problems through diagnosis and resolution, utilizing new investigation tools to boost productivity. You'll develop a deep understanding of Google's product technology and architectures, troubleshooting and identifying root causes for customer issues. This role involves consulting internal stakeholders (engineering, sales, customer orgs) to overcome technical deployment hurdles and improve Google Cloud. Collaboration with product and engineering teams to enhance products, and interaction with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams to improve production is also expected. Responsibilities include diagnosing and resolving customer issues on GCP products, understanding Google's product technology and architectures, acting as a consultant for internal stakeholders, and working with multiple teams to improve products and production. Availability for non-standard work hours, including weekends, is required.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM or equivalent
  • 4+ years experience in Web Tech, Data/Big Data, Systems Admin, Machine Learning, Networking, Kubernetes, Oracle, or SAP
  • 4+ years coding or system design experience
  • Troubleshooting and customer advocacy skills
  • Manage customer issues, diagnose and resolve problems
Good to have:
  • Kubernetes experience
  • System virtualization, on-premise/hybrid cloud computing
  • Cloud identity and security, monitoring, logging, storage
  • SQL database administration
  • Google App Engine, open source software, cloud networking, distributed computing
  • Linux/Unix or Windows systems knowledge

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience with two or more of the following: Web Tech, Data/Big Data, Systems Admin, Machine Learning, Networking, Kubernetes, Oracle, SAP.
  • 4 years of experience coding in a general purpose coding language or in system design, and troubleshooting and advocating for customers' needs, and triaging technical issues.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with Kubernetes, system virtualization, on-premise or hybrid cloud computing, cloud identity and security system, cloud monitoring and logging, or local and cloud storage.
  • Experience with SQL database administration, Google App Engine, open source software communities, cloud networking solutions, or distributed computing technology.
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix or Windows systems.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the customer’s problem through diagnosis, resolution, or implementation of new investigation tools to increase productivity for customer issues on Google Cloud Platform products.
  • Develop an understanding of Google's product technology and underlying architectures by troubleshooting, reproducing, determining the root cause for customer reported issues, and building tools for faster diagnosis.
  • Act as a consultant for internal stakeholders in engineering, sales, and customer organizations to resolve technical deployment obstacles and improve Google Cloud.
  • Work with multiple product and engineering teams to find ways to improve the product, and interact with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams to drive production.
  • Be available for non-standard work hours or shifts which may include weekend.
