Job Description
The Application Engineer role at Google involves designing, building, and testing internal applications supporting financial planning and analysis (FP&A) business processes. Responsibilities include implementing software products using various SDLC methodologies, collaborating with stakeholders to solve complex problems, building consensus across teams, partnering with internal business teams on system goals and roadmaps, and setting technical direction for a small engineering team. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience in application design and integration, experience with Java, Python, or C++, and familiarity with Google Cloud. Experience with financial engineering, web-scale databases, data pipelines, and integration with vendor products is preferred.
Must have:
- Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent
- 8+ years experience in application design & integration
- Java, Python, or C++ programming experience
- Google Cloud experience
- Implement software products and SDLC
- Work with stakeholders to solve problems
Good to have:
- Financial planning & analysis experience
- Web-scale databases & data pipelines
- Anaplan and SAP experience
- Integration with vendor products & finance processes

Job Details
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in designing and integration of internal and third-party applications.
- Experience driving engineering and architecture strategies.
- Experience programming in Java, Python, or C++.
- Experience with Google Cloud.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with financial planning and analysis or equivalent areas in finance engineering.
- Experience working with web-scale databases and building scalable data pipelines capable of aggregating and processing millions of events per day.
- Experience integrating custom built solutions with vendor product offerings and with finance business processes.
- Experience with Anaplan and SAP.
