Job Description

The Audio Director at Epic Games is responsible for establishing and maintaining the audio aesthetic across Battle Royale seasonal experiences. Responsibilities include contributing inspiring content, implementing sound using Unreal Editor tools, managing team deliverables, identifying tech needs, reviewing team contributions, fostering team growth, and collaborating with leadership on long-term visions. This role requires extensive experience in game audio, including content creation, technical implementation, dialog pipelines, music production, and managing teams. The ideal candidate will be a skilled leader who can inspire and mentor their team while creating high-impact sound design.

We raise the quality level of audio in all Epic game titles and technologies as well as engage with a world-class team to create amazing gaming experiences.

What You'll Do

As an Audio Director, you will be responsible for establishing and upholding the audio aesthetic across Battle Royale seasonal experiences.

In this role, you will

  • Contribute meaningful content that inspires the team - It's expected that you will balance both content creation and managerial work
  • Implement sound content with native Unreal Editor tools (Blueprints)
  • Manage audio team deliverables against development timelines
  • Identify and prioritize seasonal tech needs
  • Review and provide feedback on team contributions
  • Foster career growth and educational development of team members
  • Work with leadership to identify long-term visions for the company

What we're looking for

  • Audio Lead and/or Director experience with a game development team
  • 5+ years of experience working as an interactive audio designer/developer
  • A deep understanding of game audio: Content creation, technical audio/implementation, dialog pipelines, and music production
  • Unreal, Unity, or similar proprietary game editor experience on multiple platforms
  • Leads by example: Ability to create immersive, high impact sound design that inspires the team
  • People management: An eagerness to mentor and guide the performance of others
  • Solution-oriented and takes initiative towards problem-solving
  • A positive attitude with strong communication skills
  • Ability to delegate productively

This role is open to multiple locations in North America (including WA).

Pay Transparency Information

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).
