As the Communications Lead for South Africa, you will drive dentsu’s communications and media relations strategy, working closely with the communications team that oversees the entire Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) region.

Your role will involve crafting compelling narratives and engaging content that resonates with our audience, while aligning with our overarching African communications plan.

Job Description:

Responsibilities

  • Storytelling: Shape our story by crafting key press messaging, including press releases, executive briefs, and other assets.
  • Content Creation: Develop and maintain content calendars, executive reports, and marketing materials for key leadership.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with events, new business, strategy, and marketing teams across the region.
  • Narrative Building: Collect and curate proof points from new work, research, trends, and top talent to support our narrative.
  • Growth: Continuously enhance dentsu SA’s reputation, revenue, and margin.
  • Service Diversification: Drive and develop the diversification of dentsu services.
  • Integration: Simplify dentsu’s integrated model to build higher margins.
  • Employee Engagement: Aim to achieve employee engagement scores of 75% and above.
  • Internal Communication: Drive the internal understanding and roll-out of dentsu’s integrated proposition, amplifying business lines such as Creative LOB, Data proposition, Location Services, and Content.
  • Motivation and Rewards: Develop and drive dentsu’s motivation and rewards programme.
  • Onboarding: Support HR to amplify internally the new joiners, implementing a welcome process and welcome packs, and developing an internal communications strategy.
  • Staff Engagement: Develop and drive staff engagement initiatives in conjunction with the SSA Comms Team.
  • Culture Building: Create a culture and a healthy working environment, making dentsu the best place to grow your career.
  • Internal Communications: Lead the planning and execution of dentsu’s internal communications.
  • Social media: Plan and execute strategies across our social media platforms, design social media assets from provided templates and ensure alignment with our overall communications strategy and plan.
  • Speaker Opportunities: Source and secure speaker opportunities and industry panel participation to highlight our key insights, product innovations across the region  and staretgically elevate dentsu employee profiles.
  • Learning: Stay informed about RECMA/Scopen and dentsu’s data proposition.

Do You Have What It Takes? We’re looking for someone with:

  • Excellent communication skills, strategic thinking, collaborative nature, creativity and innovation, attention to detail, leadership, adaptability, and a great cultural fit.
  • At least 3-5 years in communications, public relations, or a related field. Experience in the advertising, marketing, or media industry is highly desirable. A proven track record in developing and executing communication strategies. Experience working with teams across Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) is a plus.
