ByteDance's Server platform team is searching for a CPU Application Platform Engineer Graduate (PhD) to start in 2025. You will be responsible for tracking CPU technology, optimizing system performance, and driving the implementation of new solutions. This role involves working with industry partners, consortiums, and open standard committees to contribute to the advancement of emerging technologies. You will have the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge hardware infrastructure at a massive scale.
Must have:
  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related majors
  • Good knowledge of computer system architecture
  • Experienced in CPU system application performance optimization
  • Understand the implementation of CPU virtualization technology
  • Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively with cross-functional teams

Responsibilities: - Track CPU technology from industry and partner vendors, set up tests to evaluate newly emerged technology; - Drive CPU platform customization via application performance optimizations to increase system Perf/TCO and/or reduce system TCO; - Drive CPU new technology solution study, evaluation and implementation at ByteDance; - Work with industry consortiums and open standard committees to investigate emerging technologies or standards, and contribute our research results and visions to the industry; - Work with our technology partners and suppliers to set up POC or prototypes to evaluate and test the new technologies or architectural designs.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related majors; - Good knowledge of computer system architecture, especially of CPU SoC or Platform Architecture, Interconnect Fabric, and Memory sub-system; - Experienced in CPU system application performance optimization or software-hardware co-design; - Understand the implementation of CPU virtualization technology, and distributed system; - Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively with cross-functional teams. 【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $119000 - $250000 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

We cover 100% premium coverage for employee medical insurance, approximately 75% premium coverage for dependents and offer a Health Savings Account(HSA) with a company match. In addition to Flexible Spending Account(FSA) Options like Health Care, Limited Purpose and Dependent Care.
