Job Description

As a Dialogue Designer at Cloud Imperium Games, you will record, edit, and master all types of dialogue assets, ensuring consistency across numerous sessions. You'll manage dialogue implementation, runtime effects, and dynamic in-game mixing for both Star Citizen and Squadron 42. Responsibilities include improving dialogue pipelines and workflows, collaborating with teams like Facial Animation and Narrative, and reporting to the Dialogue Lead. The role requires proficiency in production sound, spectral dialogue editing, DAWs, and ideally, experience with audio middleware and game engines. The ideal candidate is passionate about video game dialogue and possesses strong attention to detail.
Must have:
  • Proficiency in production sound & spectral dialogue editing
  • Experience with DAWs (Pro Tools, Reaper etc.)
  • Excellent file & script management (Excel)
  • Collaboration with animation & narrative teams
  • Maintaining dialogue consistency & quality
Good to have:
  • Experience with Wwise or similar audio middleware
  • Experience with Lumberyard or similar game engines

What does a Dialogue Designer at CIG do? 

  • Record, edit, and master all types of dialogue assets and metadata to a high standard while ensuring consistency is maintained over numerous sessions. 
  • Manage all forms of dialogue implementation, runtime effects design, and dynamic in-game mixing, ensuring an engaging and immersive dialogue experience. 
  • Maintain and drive improvements in all dialogue related pipelines and workflows from pre-production to implementation and QA processes. 
  • Report to Dialogue Lead and Production regularly and update all relevant parties with issues or blockers, as well as info-share in your successes and experiences gained. 
  • Collaborate regularly with upstream teams as well as other content teams like Facial Animation and Narrative to align on project vision and pipelines.

What do we expect from our Dialogue Designers? 

  • Proficiency in production sound, especially with performance capture or film where timecode is required for sync. 
  • Solid working experience with spectral dialogue editorial, such as iZotope RX Advanced or other industry equivalents. 
  • Working experience and high-level operation of DAWs, such as Pro Tools, Reaper, or other industry standards. 
  • Capability with audio middleware such as Wwise, or game engines such as Lumberyard is encouraged. 
  • Skilled with Excel for file and script management and an eye for attention to detail. 
  • Passion for dialogue in video games or other forms of entertainment.

About The Company
