Job Description

Tesla's Motor Design team in Athens, Greece seeks an Electrical Engineer with at least one year of experience in motor design and multi-physics optimization. The role involves developing advanced Matlab functions for motor performance modeling, enhancing optimization functions based on multiple criteria (electromagnetic, thermal, mechanical), processing big data, and visualizing results. Responsibilities include coupled performance optimization, electrical machine design, and identifying the impact of key parameters. Strong Matlab programming, FEA experience, and a solid understanding of electromagnetics, thermal modeling, and optimization algorithms are essential.

Must have:

Develop advanced Matlab functions for motor modeling
Enhance motor system optimization functions
Perform coupled electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical optimization
Process big data and visualize results
Strong Matlab programming skills
FEA experience with electric motors
Understanding of optimization algorithms

Good to have:

Electrical machines, power electronics, and control fundamentals

What to Expect

Tesla’s Motor Design team drives multi-physics optimization activities for the electric motors of all production vehicles. Electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical aspects of motor design and production-related constraints are considered within advanced multi-objective optimization problems aiming to maximize performance and efficiency and minimize cost.

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer with minimum 1 year of experience to work as part of the Tesla motor technology team located in Athens, Greece. As an intern in the motor design team, you will work with modeling and optimization of traction motors considering real EV specifications. You will be challenged with complex optimization problems, involving multiple and conflicting criteria, and decision-making, considering optimal design trade-offs.

Η ομάδα ασχολείται με την ηλεκτρομαγνητική, θερμική και μηχανική ανάλυση των κινητήρων με ταυτόχρονη θεώρηση περιορισμών σχετικών με την διαδικασία παραγωγής, μέσα σε πολυκριτηριακά προβλήματα βελτιστοποίησης, με στόχο τη μεγιστοποίηση της επίδοσης και της απόδοσης και την ελαχιστοποίηση του κόστους.

Η Tesla αναζητά έναν ηλεκτρολόγο μηχανικό με 1 χρόνο εμπειρίας στη μοντελοποίηση και βελτιστοποίηση κινητήριων συστημάτων με ηλεκτρικές μηχανές. Ο υποψήφιος θα εργάζεται με την ομάδα ανάπτυξης τεχνολογίας ηλεκτρικών μηχανών στην Αθήνα, Ελλάδα, προς υψηλότερης ακρίβειας μοντελοποίηση ηλεκτρικών μηχανών και βελτιστοποίηση του κινητήριου συστήματος.

What You’ll Do

Responsible for developing advanced Matlab functions to model motor performance.
Develop new and enhance existing motor system optimization functions based on multiple criteria.
Perform coupled electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical performance optimization.
Process big data, select the most compelling candidates and visualize the results.
Apply numerical optimization and visualization of multi-objective tradeoffs.
Perform electrical machine design and identify the impact of key design and operating parameters.

Υπεύθυνη/ος για την ανάπτυξη προχωρημένων συναρτήσεων σε περιβάλλον MATLAB για την μοντελοποίηση της επίδοσης ηλεκτρικών μηχανών και συστημάτων κίνησης.
Ανάπτυξη νέων και βελτιστοποίηση υπαρχόντων συναρτήσεων πολυκριτηριακής βελτιστοποίησης κινητήριων συστημάτων.
Βελτιστοποίηση με θεώρηση ηλεκτρομαγνητικής, θερμικής και μηχανικής επίδοσης.
Επεξεργασία Big Data, επιλογή των βέλτιστων και αποτύπωση των αποτελεσμάτων.
Σχεδίαση ηλεκτρικών κινητήρων.

What You’ll Bring

Fluency in English.
Studies in Electrical Engineering.
Strong mathematical and physics background.
Very good understanding of electromagnetics and electric circuits.
Very good understanding of thermal and mechanical modeling.
Strong Matlab programming skills.
Experience analyzing electric motors using Finite Element Method.
Understanding of optimization algorithms.

The following will be considered as plus:

· Electrical machines, power electronics and control fundamentals.

· Understanding of thermodynamics and heat transfer.

· Experience with numerical optimization and visualization of multi-objective tradeoffs.

Άριστη γνώση της αγγλικής γλώσσας.
Σπουδές ηλεκτρολόγου ή μηχανολόγου μηχανικού.
Εξαιρετικό υπόβαθρο μαθηματικών και φυσικής.
Πολύ καλή κατανόηση Ηλεκτρομαγνητισμού και ηλεκτρικών κυκλωμάτων.
Πολύ καλή κατανόηση θερμικής και μηχανικής μοντελοποίησης.
Εξαιρετικές δεξιότητες προγραμματισμού σε περιβάλλον MATLAB.
Εμπειρία στη μοντελοποίηση ηλεκτρικών μηχανών με μεθόδους πεπερασμένων στοιχείων.
Κατανόηση βασικών αρχών βελτιστοποίησης.

Επιθυμητά προσόντα:

· Γνώση της λειτουργίας ηλεκτρικών μηχανών, ηλεκτρονικών ισχύος και βασικές αρχές θεωρίας ελέγχου.

· Κατανόηση Θερμοδυναμικής και μεταφοράς θερμότητας.

· Εμπειρία στην αριθμητική βελτιστοποίηση και οπτικοποίηση πολυκριτηριακων προβλημάτων.
