Job Description

As the Indirect Tax Analyst, you will support the compliance and operational aspects of the indirect tax function. Your responsibilities include accurately filing tax returns, assisting with journal entries and monthly GL account reconciliations, researching sales tax issues, and helping implement system/process improvements. You will report to the Sr. Indirect Tax Analyst and be a hybrid employee. The role requires preparing and filing state sales and use tax returns, performing monthly tax reconciliations, and responding to tax information requests. You will also demonstrate support for journalistic independence.
Must have:
  • 1+ years of Sales and Use tax experience
  • 1+ years of experience in a Financial ERP system
  • Proficient in Excel
Good to have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Management
  • Research skills related to tax laws

About the Role: 

As the Indirect Tax Analyst you will support both compliance and operational aspects of our indirect tax function. You will ensure accurate filing of returns and will assist with journal entries and monthly GL account reconciliations. You will also help research sales tax issues regarding audits, compliance and new projects and help implement systems / process improvements and other special projects. You will report to the Sr. Indirect Tax Analyst. This will be a hybrid position. 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and file state sales and use tax returns in multiple state, local, and foreign jurisdictions, ensuring accurate submission and payment of associated tax liabilities
  • Perform monthly tax reconciliations of sales and use tax transaction data, reviewing accounting transactions to support liabilities for compliance reporting
  • Respond to requests for tax information by internal customers and taxing authorities, providing clear and accurate information and resolving any issues that arise
  • Complete other special tax projects as assigned
  • Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world

Basic Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience working within a corporation or public accounting firm with Sales and Use tax experience
  • 1+ years of experience in a Financial ERP system such as Workday
  • Proficient in Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Management or related industries
  • Research skills and ability to stay informed about tax laws, rules and regulations and their applicability to specific situations

The annual base pay range for this role is between:

$55,000 - $65,000 USD
