KABC Freelance Newscast Director

ABC7 Los Angeles is seeking a freelance Director to join our team to work on news and live local productions.

Responsibilities:

• Director is responsible for all technical aspects of a live production using Ross Overdrive and Smart Shell camera control systems.
• Works directly with producers, reporters, and technical staff including playback editing, transmission, Master control and engineering.
• Responsible for clean execution of newscast while maintaining a positive, proactive attitude.
• Direct/T.D. any assigned Live newscast, webcast or post production, also stage manage as needed.
• Maintain production studio and control room.

Basic Qualifications:

• Working experience with Ross Overdrive.
• Strong sense of newscast structure. 
• Hands on experience operating in a computer assisted environment with the ability to work under pressure. 
• Operation knowledge of DALET Newsroom systems a must. 
• Interacts with various departments and requires exceptional organizational skills.
• Must be willing to work any shift.
• Minimum of 5 years’ Major Market experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Dalet, Xpression, and Ross switchers a plus.
• Knowledge of Ross Overdrive and Ross Overdrive Smart Shell camera system
• Possess strong organizational skills, be self-motivated and have a good visual sense.
• Must be able to work well under pressure, thrive on deadlines and work a flexible schedule.
• Have the ability to clearly give direction to crew while under pressure.

Required Education:  High School Diploma

Preferred Education:  College Degree
