Lead UI Motion Designer

What You'll Do

Play a central role in establishing and enhancing the UI motion design guidelines

within our Design System, supporting designers and engineers across the entire Design System team.

Design and implement UI motion principles and animations to improve the user experience and ensure consistency across all platforms and devices.

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including UI/UX designers, frontend engineers, and product management to ensure a cohesive visual language.

Mentor and guide designers in the team, helping them to understand and implement motion design principles.

Champion the use of animation and micro-interactions in improving user experiences, demonstrating how they can solve design problems and enhance usability.

Influence the evolution of our Design System by teaching us what we don't know and how you want to improve our Design System to cater towards the needs of designers and engineers.

Who You Are

You have at least 7+ years of strong hands-on experience as a UI Motion Designer or similar role in a fast-paced organization.

Multiple years of demonstrated experience working on large-scale design systems or UI Motion, particularly in implementing motion design principles and guidelines.

Deep understanding of motion design software and tools, as well as familiarity with web technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frontend frameworks.

Experience working in a cross-functional team together with product management, designers, and engineers.

Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English, with the ability to present confidently to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Flexibility to work in ambiguous situations, create clarity without direction, and define motion design standards and best practices from the ground up.

Strong knowledge of UX/UI principles, with an eye for great user experiences and user interfaces.

Ability to learn quickly, iterate, unblock yourself, and persist until the right problem is solved.

You understand and live agile workflows and lean principles in your day-to-day work.

We'd Particularly Love It If

You have a portfolio showcasing your ability to create high-quality, engaging motion graphics and animations for a variety of applications.

You have experience with open source or standards development.

Able to demonstrate knowledge of front-end system design.

You have experience mentoring other designers.

You have an understanding of accessibility and how to design animations that cater to a wide range of users.
