Position Overview

Autodesk's Entertainment & Media team is looking for a Principal Software Quality Assurance Specialist to guide our QA team, drive team-level outcomes and initiatives, and foster a collaborative and high-performance culture. Reporting to our Manager of Software Quality Assurance, you will mentor and develop team members, ensuring their growth and alignment with the team's objectives.

You possess extensive experience in front-end testing and a deep understanding of web technologies. This role involves guiding the design, development, and execution of both automated and manual tests to ensure the highest quality of our web applications, with an equal focus on both testing types. Proficiency in JavaScript and experience using Cypress and Applitools Eyes are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously improve and optimize testing processes and frameworks

  • Ensure proper integration of tests into our CI/CD pipeline

  • Utilize Applitools Eyes for visual testing to ensure the visual correctness of web applications

  • Prioritize testing tasks to ensure timely delivery and adherence to high-quality standards

  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve overall code quality

  • Mentor and develop junior QA specialists

  • Collaborate regularly with developers, product managers, and QA teams to identify test requirements and develop comprehensive test plans

  • Communicate test results, findings, and insights clearly to all key team members & stakeholders

  • Maintain and enhance test scripts using Cypress for front-end testing

  • Write and maintain JavaScript-based test scripts and frameworks

  • Lead the design, development, and execution of both automated and manual tests to ensure the quality of our web applications

  • Perform comprehensive front-end and back-end manual testing as needed

  • Actively create opportunities to share knowledge

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of related work experience in an agile/scrum environment

  • Extensive understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.) and related testing methodologies

  • Proficiency in JavaScript, with experience using Cypress and Applitools Eyes.

  • Prior experience designing, developing and executing test plans and able to teach others

  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, or similar.

  • Effective communication, collaboration, and teamwork abilities.

  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

  • University degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience will be considered)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with other automation tools and frameworks

  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs and API testing

  • Familiarity with version control systems like Git

  • Experience in performance testing and security testing

Ce rôle consiste à guider la conception, le développement et l'exécution de tests automatisés et manuels afin d'assurer la meilleure qualité de nos applications web, en mettant l'accent sur les deux types de tests. La maîtrise de JavaScript et l'expérience de l'utilisation de Cypress et Applitools Eyes sont essentielles.
 

Responsabilités

  • Améliorer et optimiser continuellement les processus et les cadres de test

  • Assurer l'intégration correcte des tests dans notre pipeline CI/CD

  • Utiliser Applitools Eyes pour les tests visuels afin d'assurer l'exactitude visuelle des applications web

  • Prioriser les tâches de test afin d'assurer une livraison dans les délais et le respect des normes de haute qualité

  • Participer aux revues de code et fournir des commentaires constructifs afin d'améliorer la qualité globale du code

  • Encadrer et développer les jeunes spécialistes de l'assurance qualité

  • Collaborer régulièrement avec les développeurs, les chefs de produit et les équipes d'assurance qualité afin d'identifier les exigences en matière de test et d'élaborer des plans de test complets

  • Communiquer clairement les résultats des tests, les conclusions et les idées à tous les membres clés de l'équipe et aux parties prenantes

  • Maintenir et améliorer les scripts de test en utilisant Cypress pour les tests frontaux

  • Rédiger et maintenir des scripts de test et des frameworks basés sur JavaScript

  • Diriger la conception, le développement et l'exécution de tests automatisés et manuels afin de garantir la qualité de nos applications web

  • Effectuer des tests manuels complets pour les applications front-end et back-end si nécessaire

  • Créer activement des opportunités de partage des connaissances

Qualifications minimales

  • 8+ ans d'expérience professionnelle dans un environnement agile/scrum

  • Compréhension approfondie des technologies web (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.) et des méthodologies de test correspondantes

  • Maîtrise du JavaScript, avec une expérience de l'utilisation de Cypress et Applitools Eyes

  • Expérience préalable de la conception, du développement et de l'exécution de plans de test et capacité à enseigner aux autres

  • Expérience avec des outils CI/CD tels que Jenkins, GitLab, ou similaires

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For Canada-BC based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $104,000 and $143,000. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
