As a Senior Staff Software Engineer at Google, you will provide technical leadership on high-impact projects, influencing and coaching a distributed team. You'll manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables, designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing software solutions. The role requires expertise in data structures/algorithms, design and architecture, and testing/launching software products. You'll work on projects critical to Google’s needs, with opportunities to switch teams and projects. The Core team focuses on building central solutions, breaking down technical barriers and strengthening existing systems across Google's products. This role demands versatility, leadership, and enthusiasm for tackling full-stack problems.
Must have:
  • 8+ years software development experience
  • Data structures/algorithms expertise
  • 5+ years design, architecture, testing & launch experience
  • Technical leadership
  • Project management skills
Good to have:
  • Master's/PhD in related field
  • Cross-functional project experience
  • Multiple programming languages (Java, Python, Go, Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript)
  • Experience with storage services (Spanner, MySQL, NoSQL)
  • Security/privacy product development

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 5 years of experience with design and architecture; and testing/launching software products.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience working in an organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.
  • Experience with multiple programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go, etc.) and with Front-End related languages (e.g., Angular, TypeScript, or JavaScript).
  • Experience in storage services (e.g., Spanner, MySQL, NoSQL systems).
  • Experience in technical leadership of software groups.
  • Experience in developing security or privacy products.
