Job Description

As a Sr. Software Engineer - Cloud Platform Reliability, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining services to meet reliability and scalability demands for CrowdStrike's next-generation infrastructure and security platform. This includes developing and enhancing monitoring services, extending and building new libraries, and constantly re-evaluating the product to improve architecture and user experience. The role involves using and contributing to open source, evangelizing best practices, collaborating across teams, and mentoring other developers. You will be working on a platform that processes trillions of events daily. You will be accountable for delivering high-quality software that is unit tested, code reviewed, and checked in regularly for continuous integration.
Must have:
  • 7+ years of experience in a service-oriented backend role
  • 5+ years developing microservices in Golang, Java, Scala, Kotlin, Python, Node.js
  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Expert-level knowledge of Golang
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems and scalability challenges

  • Contributions to the open source community
  • Existing exposure to Go, Java, AWS, Cassandra, Kafka, Elasticsearch
  • Prior experience in the cybersecurity or intelligence fields

About the Role:

We’re building the next-generation infrastructure and security platform for CrowdStrike which include an application and service delivery platform, massively scalable distributed data storage and replication systems, and a cutting-edge search and distributed graph system. Help us scale CrowdStrike’s infrastructure and products to handle massive growth in traffic and data as we continue to experience dramatic growth in the usage of our products.

If you’re a math-brained or algorithmic thinker who loves optimization at its core, then we’ve got the role to put your strengths to work! Throwing you headfirst into our core codebase to push the capabilities of our platform and drive optimizations for the entire product’s architecture.

Crowdstrike Falcon is THE industry standard in cloud-native cyber security and threat hunting, processing Trillions of events/day. You’ll be positioned for optimal widespread impact with  bottom-up ownership of our core codebase, driving architectural choices that affect every feature development team, providing shared architectural components to be leveraged throughout the Falcon Platform (things like Unified Search, Protobuf libraries and other shared-tier architectural components).

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and maintain services to meet reliability and scalability demands.

  • Develop and enhancement monitoring services.

  • Extend and build new libraries for cross-cutting concerns that comprise/extend to the entirety of CrowdStrike's cloud platform, which consists of hundreds of libraries and services.

  • Constantly re-evaluate our product to improve architecture, knowledge models, user experience, performance and stability.

  • Use and give back to the open source community.

  • Evangelize best practices for building software, especially as pertains to Go.

  • Brainstorm, define, and build collaboratively with members across multiple teams.

  • Obsess about learning, and champion the newest technologies & tricks with others, raising the technical IQ of the team.

  • Mentor other developers on web, backend and data storage technologies and our system.

  • Update OSS dependencies as needed

  • Be mentored and mentor other developers on web security, authentication and authorization strategies.

  • Be an energetic ‘self-starter’ with the ability to take ownership and be accountable for deliverable.

What You'll Need:

  • United States Citizenship OR Permanent Residency is necessary to retain access to resources in AWS GovCloud (NO Clearance necessary)

  • 7+ years of full-time experience in a service-oriented backend developer role

  • 5+ years developing microservices for a SaaS product, in one of the following object-oriented languages: Golang, Java, Scala, Kotlin, Python, Node.js.

  • Degree in Computer Science (or commensurate experience in data structures/algorithms/distributed systems).

  • Expert-level knowledge of Golang

  • The ability to scale backend systems – sharding, partitioning, scaling horizontally are second nature to you.

  • The desire to ship code and the love of seeing your bits run in production.

  • Deep understanding of distributed systems and scalability challenges.

  • Deep understand multi-threading, concurrency, and parallel processing technologies.

  • Team player skills – we embrace collaborating as a team as much as possible.

  • A thorough understanding of engineering best practices from appropriate testing paradigms to effective peer code reviews and resilient architecture.

  • The ability to thrive in a fast paced, test-driven, collaborative and iterative programming environment.

  • The skills to meet your commitments on time and produce high quality software that is unit tested, code reviewed, and checked in regularly for continuous integration.

Bonus Points:

  • Contributions to the open source community (GitHub, Stack Overflow, blogging).

  • Existing exposure to Go, Java, AWS, Cassandra, Kafka, Elasticsearch, etc.

  • Prior experience in the cybersecurity or intelligence fields.
