Job Description

The Associate Safety Professional at Walt Disney Parks and Resorts will provide safety and health support, assist leaders in preventing injuries and ensuring compliance, and partner with teams to develop and implement safety programs. Responsibilities include conducting incident investigations, job safety analyses, attending safety committee meetings, and collaborating with subject matter experts. The ideal candidate possesses 1-3 years of safety experience in the entertainment/hospitality industry, knowledge of regulatory standards (confined space, fall protection, lockout-tagout), hazard recognition, and conflict resolution skills. This role requires working closely with various teams to integrate safety processes and mitigate risks within the Disneyland Resort.

The Associate Safety Professional will report to a Manager Safety.

What You Will Do

On any given day, as an Associate Safety Professional , you might:

  • Provide safety and health support to an assigned area or Line of Business
  • Assist Leaders to prevent injury, reduce risk and assure compliance by integrating actionable, sustainable, efficient, and effective safety processes into their business.
  • Partner with the Segment Programs Team to develop and implement programs.
  • Partner with subject matter experts (i.e., safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, construction) and safety program owners to fully support local areas, initiate solutions, and mitigate risk.
  • Work to understand the business, its culture, and its challenges. Look for opportunities to attend meetings, shadow leaders, and experience the work. Understand the daily challenges in producing "safe outcomes" for the Cast. Understand the internal processes that can be used to incorporate safety and health initiatives.
  • Know the importance of and engage appropriate partners (i.e., domestic Safety & Health operations/programs/auditing, communications/documentation/design assurance, A&FE, operations, LOB safety representatives) on troubleshooting, projects, plans, and goal-setting.
  • Attend/co-chair safety committee meetings; ensure minutes are documented, and follow-up is occurring.
  • Conduct incident investigations
  • Conduct job safety analyses

Required Qualifications & Skills

Here’s what you need to be successful at this job:

  • Some professional experience
  • 1-3 years of demonstrated safety experience in the entertainment/hospitality industry.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards, best practices, and guidelines, such as confined space, fall protection, lockout-tagout, incident investigation, and root-cause analysis.
  • Able to recognize hazards and propose mitigations.
  • You will provide direction and complete projects by being consultative and resolving conflicts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • GSP or ASP certification

Education

  • BS or BA degree

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor of Science degree in the safety and health field

The hiring range for this position in California is $$71,000.00-$95,100.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
