This Camera Software Engineer, Machine Learning role at Google involves developing advanced algorithms and software systems to enhance Pixel camera color photography, focusing on tuning efficiency and accuracy. Responsibilities include developing machine learning-based automation systems for auto white balance, color tuning, and quality evaluation; participating in camera 3A (auto white balance, color tuning, image quality evaluation); and collaborating with software and hardware teams to improve image quality. The position requires a strong background in C++, Python, image processing, and machine learning, with experience in software design and architecture. The ideal candidate will have experience with TensorFlow and phone product development. This role offers the chance to impact millions of Pixel phone users globally and contribute to cutting-edge research projects.
Must have:
  • 5+ years software development (C++/Python)
  • 3+ years image processing/ML experience
  • 3+ years software product development
  • Develop ML automation systems for camera 3A
  • Collaborate with software and hardware teams
Good to have:
  • Phone product development experience
  • Camera 3A algorithm development
  • TensorFlow experience
  • Color tuning knowledge

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in C++ or Python with data structures or algorithms.
  • 3 years of industry experience in developing software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • 3 years of experience in image processing, machine learning or computational photography.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in phone product development.
  • Experience in camera 3A (e.g., auto white balance, auto exposure, auto focus) software and algorithm development.
  • Experience in Tensorflow.
  • Knowledge of color tuning.
  • Excellent investigative and problem-solving skills for debugging code, optimizing algorithms, and troubleshooting technical issues.
