Job Description
Flawless is looking for a Contract Compositor to collaborate with other artists and specialists. The role involves completing shots, collaborating on schedules, ensuring shot continuity, and suggesting improvements. The compositor will be expected to use Nuke X, handle object removal, perform beauty work, and use various tools for compositing. The candidate should have a keen eye for detail, good knowledge of light and shadow, and experience in features, commercials, and/or episodic series. They should also be comfortable working in an evolving pipeline and be proactive in developing tools and processes.
Must have:
- 10+ years compositing experience
- Skill in Nuke X, including SplineWarp, Smart Vector
- Skill in object removal, paint work and cleanup
- Experience with beauty work
- Skill with rotoscope, key and merge tools
Good to have:
- Experience with Davinci Resolve or Nuke Studio is a plus
- Experience with 3d renders and enhancing composites
- Python scripting a plus
- An interest in using machine learning and AI

Key Responsibilities
- Liaise with the Compositing Supervisor and VFX Supervisor to complete shots.
- Collaborate with Production Management for schedules and timelines.
- Ensure continuity of shots within sequences.
- QC finished composites to identify problems and suggest solutions.
- Composite shots of various levels of difficulty in Nuke.
- Collaborate with other team members to suggest pipeline improvements.
- Mentor/collaborate with junior artists to share knowledge of processes and tools.
Required Skills
- 10 years+ compositing experience.
- Skill in Nuke X, including the SplineWarp, Smart Vector and MatchGrade nodes.
- Skill in object removal, paint work and cleanup.
- Experience with beauty work.
- Skill with rotoscope, key and merge tools to create mattes.
- A keen eye for detail, especially in face work.
- A good knowledge of light and shadow, motion blur and edge integration.
- Experience working on features, commercials and/or episodic series.
- Tracking and matchmoving, ideally including good knowledge of Boris FX's Mocha Pro and KeenTools' FaceTracker plugins for Nuke.
- Experience with Davinci Resolve, Blackmagic Fusion and or/Nuke Studio is a plus.
- Experience with 3d renders and enhancing composites with 2d effects3d Camera projection skills.
- Python scripting a plus.
- An interest in using machine learning and AI to create tools for filmmakers.
- Must be comfortable working in an evolving pipeline.
- Proactive mindset with a desire to learn and develop tools and processes.
$50 - $75 an hour
