You'll manage freelance talent, maintain the creative calendar, and serve as a liaison between Creative, Strategy, Production, and Client Services. This role includes allocating team members, maintaining the resourcing calendar, managing freelance talent, negotiating rates, and collaborating with various teams to resolve conflicts and communicate staffing updates. You will be using Airtable and similar tools for staffing workflows.
Must have:
  • 4+ years of creative resourcing experience in an agency or studio.
  • Strong knowledge of the creative process and roles.
  • Experience managing freelance rosters, onboarding, and negotiations.
  • Proficiency in Airtable, Notion, or similar project tracking tools.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Solutions-oriented approach to managing priorities.

MATTE Projects is a 360° full-service creative studio focused on storytelling, design, and cultural impact. We specialize in creative development, branding and identity, experiential marketing, web design, campaigns and content creation, and full-scale production. We thrive on crafting memorable experiences for brands and audiences alike.

We are seeking a Creative Resourcing and Talent Manager (Freelance Creative Talent)  to join our team for a 5-month contract engagement from July through November 2025. In this temporary but critical role, you will oversee creative resourcing across all projects—balancing project needs, timelines, and team availability. You’ll manage freelance talent, maintain our creative calendar, and serve as a connective link between Creative, Strategy, Production, and Client Services.

This is a contract role that requires 4x days per week at our offices in Soho, Fridays are remote.

Key Responsibilities:

Creative Resourcing & Scheduling

  • Allocate creative team members (designers, strategists, writers, art directors, etc.) to projects based on availability and skillset.

  • Maintain an up-to-date resourcing calendar, flagging capacity constraints and future needs.

  • Partner with project leads to assess scope, timelines, and creative bandwidth.

Freelance Talent Management

  • Maintain and manage a reliable roster of freelance creative talent.

  • Source, onboard, and match freelancers to project needs.

  • Negotiate freelance rates and manage talent budgets in collaboration with Finance and Operations.

Talent Pipeline Support

  • Continue relationship-building with emerging creative talent to support future resourcing needs.

  • Collaborate with HR on any existing freelance or full-time pipeline strategies.

Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Serve as the central liaison between Creative, Production, Strategy, and Client Services.

  • Proactively identify and resolve resourcing conflicts.

  • Communicate staffing updates and priorities in regular team syncs.

Operational Tools & Reporting

  • Use Airtable (or similar) to manage staffing workflows and freelance tracking.

  • Monitor and report on resource utilization and talent engagement across projects.

  • Help uphold strong processes that ensure visibility, accountability, and speed.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of creative resourcing, talent management, or operations experience within an agency or studio environment.

  • Strong knowledge of the creative process and roles (design, strategy, production, etc.).

  • Experience managing freelance rosters, onboarding, and rate negotiations.

  • Proficiency in Airtable, Notion, or similar project tracking tools.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Solutions-oriented with a calm, proactive approach to managing competing priorities.

Compensation: $10,000-$11,000/month
