We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

Job Description Summary:

Consumer GADS (Global Analytics and Data Science) shapes the strategy of our Consumer business at PayPal and Venmo through data driven decision making. Portfolio analytics data scientist monitors and tracks the health of the consumer portfolio while simultaneously providing thoughtful recommendations to improve the portfolio health.

About You:

We are seeking an exceptional Data Scientist for Consumer Portfolio Analytics team with a passion for data insights and relentless focus on execution who is

Your day to day: 

• Challenge the status quo, and drive data backed decision making
• Partner closely with product & marketing to understand new offerings being built and recommend the right metrics to measure the impact to the portfolio
• Identify key metrics, conduct rigorous explorative data analysis, create executive facing presentations and build business cases that drive decision making
• Analyze consumer portfolio performance and health, explore opportunities for driving engagement & profitability for the business
• Synthesize large volumes of data with attention to granular details and present findings and recommendations to senior-level stakeholders
• Collaborate with engineering and data engineering to enable data tracking, resolve complex data issues, and build necessary data pipelines
• Support multiple projects at the same time in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
• Coach and mentor a small group of team members on day-to-day delivery

What do you need to bring: 

• At least 10 years of experience analyzing large, multi-dimensional data sets and synthesizing insights into actionable solutions 
• Bachelors in a quantitative field, advanced degrees preferred 
• Excellent in SQL and scripting languages such as Python or R, comfortable working with large, complex, and potentially messy datasets 
• Strong foundational knowledge of statistics (e.g. hypothesis testing, statistical inference, regression)
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to influence cross-functional teams 
• Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with cross-functional teams  
• Prior work experience driving data driven solutions for customer facing businesses would be highly valued 
• A passion for problem-solving and comfort with ambiguity
