Job Description

Deal Managers at Microsoft collaborate with customers to understand their business needs and create customized licensing/contracting solutions. They design and execute creative licensing solutions/commercial contracts, partnering with sales teams to increase revenue/profitability and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include providing expert knowledge of Microsoft volume licensing programs, negotiation strategies, and best practices to drive cloud product adoption. The ideal candidate will have experience selling IT software to large enterprise clients, negotiating contracts, and closing deals. They will lead commercial conversations, articulate the value of Microsoft's offers, and negotiate contract terms. Key decisions on agreements will be made, applying business judgment and complex licensing principles. Proactive identification and recommendation of solutions for improving agreement processes is also expected.
Must have:
  • Master's degree or Bachelor's with experience
  • 6+ years sales & negotiation experience
  • Fluency in Japanese and English
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills
  • Experience selling IT software to large enterprise clients
Good to have:
  • Understanding of cloud transformation
  • Experience with Azure, Modern Workplace, Dynamics 365
  • Deep commercial experience in software contract pricing and negotiation
  • CxO level negotiation experience

Deal Managers at Microsoft work with customers to understand their business needs and translate these requirements into customized licensing/contracting solutions.  Collaborating with customers of all sizes, Deal Managers are empowered to design and execute creative licensing solutions/commercial contracts for our customers. They work in close partnerships with sales teams to develop strategies for increasing revenue/profitability and improving customer satisfaction by accelerating technological solutions to meet customer needs.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:


Master's Degree in Business Management, Information Technology, Marketing , or related field AND 6+ years of sales and negotiation experience or related work

    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Information Technology, Marketing, or related field or related field AND 10+ years of sales and negotiation experience or related work or internship experience
    • OR equivalent experience
  • Demonstrable decision-making, analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills.
  • Fluency in Japanese and English.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Clear articulation of the importance of cloud transformation. Ideally can advocate for Microsoft’s three key cloud solutions—Azure, Modern Workplace, and Dynamics 365.
  • Deep commercial experience in pricing and negotiating software contracts including terms and conditions with in depth knowledge of local & area marketplace, competition, and specific challenges of major industry sectors driving negotiation behavior
  • Strong business acumen and executive presence
  • Successful track record of working, influencing and negotiating directly with large customers at CxO level and Executives.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • The Deal Manager will provide the Subsidiaries’ Leaders, Sales Leaders, Commercial Executives, Business Managers and Field Sellers (Product sellers and Support sellers) with expert knowledge of Microsoft volume licensing programs, negotiation strategies, and best practices to drive adoption and growth of cloud products and solutions.
  • The ideal candidate should have a strong experience of selling IT software products and support services to large enterprise clients, negotiating contracts, and closing deals.
  • The person should have a good understanding of cloud economics and will be required to create innovative commercial offers to beat competition and win deals.
  • This person will lead commercial conversations interfacing with large enterprise clients, articulating the value of Microsoft’s commercial offers, and negotiating contract terms and conditions.
  • The Deal Manager will make key decisions on agreements by applying business judgment and complex licensing principles and will work with legal and business partners to identify/resolve agreement issues and prepare contract amendments. Ensure sales and negotiation strategies adhere to established strategy, guidelines, policies, and legal standards.
  • This person will be expected to proactively identify and recommend solutions for improving the agreement development, negotiation and sales processes. They will act as a field-based feedback resource for providing Corporate with insights into product and program licensing development.
