Job Description

The Director of Cyber Security will lead the Cyber Security team, define strategic priorities, and manage incident response and threat management. This role involves evolving security processes, policies, and tools to enhance capabilities. Responsibilities include managing the Cyber Security program, leading and mentoring a team, researching emerging threats, and managing key capabilities like EDR and SIEM. The role also requires collaboration with Security, IT Operations, Legal, and Risk teams while contributing to Cineplex’s security, privacy, and crisis management policies.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience developing and implementing cybersecurity strategies
  • Deep technical or operational experience in cybersecurity
  • Experience with Windows and Linux environments
  • Knowledge of Canadian Privacy Laws
Good to have:
  • Industry recognized certification (e.g., CISSP, CRISC)
  • Experience working in hybrid on-prem and cloud environments

What you will do:

Summary:

Reporting to the Vice President, Architecture and Cyber Security, the Director, Cyber Security will be the first line of defense for safeguarding the confidentiality, integrity and availability of Cineplex data, systems and services.  You will define the strategic priorities for the Cyber Security team, and lead them in daily cyber incident response function, as well as threat management activities. You will also lead in the evolution of processes, policies, and tools to ensure the ongoing enhancement of Cineplex’s Cyber Security capabilities.

NOTE: This is a hybrid role, based out of the Cineplex Head Office at 1303 Yonge St, Toronto

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the definition and day-to-day operations of the Cyber Security program, including policies, workflows, tools, metrics, and reporting
  • Lead and mentor a team of Cyber Security Analysts, including task assignments, priorities, skills development, and the delivery of strategic projects
  • Serve as a SME on threat Intelligence and conduct research on emerging threats and identify and deploy preventative solutions
  • Lead the Cyber Security Team to own and manage key capabilities, including EDR and Advanced Threat Protection, SIEM, SAST, DAST, WAF, PAM
  • Support the collaboration between Security, IT Operations, Legal and Risk teams to ensure alignment
  • Contribute to maintaining Cineplex’s security, privacy and crisis management policies

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree required, preferably in Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline
  • Industry recognized certification (e.g., CISSP, CRISC, GCFA, CISM, CISA, PCI QSA/ISA, PMP) or equivalent certification is preferred
  • Experience developing, communicating, and implementing cybersecurity or technology strategies
  • Deep technical or operational experience in cybersecurity
  • Experience with a variety of cybersecurity disciplines and topics including Systems/Network Administration, Windows Clients/ Servers, SQL, Linux (ESX VMWare, MS Virtual Servers)
  • Demonstrated experience working in hybrid on-prem and cloud environments
  • Effective communicator who is able to apply strong written and oral communications skills across varying levels of the organization with an ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Privacy Laws
