Foundational Technology is a specialized team within the Battlefield franchise, dedicated to building cutting-edge technology that ensures the present and future success of Battlefield. Foundational Technology consists of Online, Engine, Infrastructure and Stability, and Tools. We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Director of Technical Operations to lead our efforts in this critical area.
Role Summary:
The Director of Technical Operations will be responsible for overseeing budget, scalable and efficient talent planning, talent development and succession planning, goal setting and execution, and accounting of development effort across Battlefield’s globally distributed Foundational Technology team. This role demands a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of game development, technical operations, and the ability to lead a globally diverse team of engineers and technologists.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership: Provide operational leadership and strategic direction to the Foundational Technology team, ensuring alignment with the overall goals of the Battlefield franchise.
Operational Excellence: Oversee the sprint and milestone operations of the Foundational Technology team against committed goals and product timelines and drive postmortems and actions to improve operational capabilities.
Collaboration: Work closely with other, technical and non-technical, domains to plan and develop the Battlefield franchise, across Ripple Effect, Motive, Criterion, DICE, and Battlefield Central Technology (BCT).
Resource Management: Create and manage budgets and global staffing to drive scalable and efficient teams while fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional development.
Budget Management: Partner with Finance and Battlefield product leadership to develop and manage the Foundational Technology budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources while maintaining high standards of quality and performance.
Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure the stability and effectiveness of the team.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in technical operations or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the gaming industry, preferably within AAA.
Technical Expertise: Extensive knowledge of game development processes.
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and inspire a team of technical professionals, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex organizational initiatives and technical concepts to non-expert stakeholders.
Project Management: Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale projects, with the ability to deliver on time and within budget.
Local Presence: Works out of one of Battlefield
