Job Description

This role focuses on core accounting skills, involving preparing, developing, and analyzing financial information for senior management to make informed decisions. Responsibilities include performing accounting transactions in the general ledger and sub-ledgers, journal posting reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and assisting with financial reports. The candidate will collaborate with stakeholders, adhere to internal controls, and use spreadsheets and databases. The role requires effective interaction with team members and adaptability to a constantly evolving environment to meet business priorities and deadlines. The selected candidate will be responsible in achieving accurate accounting, organizational objectives for the function and reporting in line with the accounting policies and procedures of the London Stock Exchange Group in addition to collaborating with stakeholders.
Must have:
  • Professional accounting degree with minimum 1 year of experience.
  • Proven track record in processing core accounting transactions.
Good to have:
  • Experience with SAP/Oracle Fusion systems.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, especially MS Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills in oral and written English.

Position Summary

The main responsibilities of this role will be preparing, developing, and analysing financial information so that the London Stock Exchange Group’s senior management can make well-informed decisions, leading to future stability, growth, and profitability. The role focuses on core accounting skills, working across different business divisions in order to support the whole organisation. The selected candidate will be responsible in achieving accurate accounting, organisational objectives for the function and reporting in line with the accounting policies and procedures of the London Stock Exchange Group in addition to collaborating with stakeholders.

Role Responsibilities

  • Perform accounting transactions in the general ledger and sub-ledgers, including collecting, recording, and verifying financial data.
  • Ownership of journal posting reconciliations and intercompany recharges.
  • Preparation of Balance Sheet reconciliations and substantiations.
  • Work collaboratively in identification and support of continuous improvement activities.
  • Assistance may be required in the preparation of monthly or weekly financial reports.
  • Develop and use spreadsheets, databases, and other reports.
  • Effective interaction with the onshore team members.
  • Adherence to internal controls as per group policies and the financial control framework.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Having professional accounting degree with minimum 1 year of experience in General Accounting.
  • Proven track record in processing core accounting transactions to ensure balances are accurately reflected in the general ledger.
  • Hands on experience in SAP/Oracle Fusion systems preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages specially in MS Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills in oral & written English.
  • Be a lead proponent in driving a collaborative culture to working across finance.
  • Adaptable to working in a constantly evolving environment to meet business priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong process orientation, with ability to craft robust reporting frameworks.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with global colleagues.
  • Improve opportunities, i.e., challenge ways of working, embrace Group practices, seek, and provide information and clarification.
  • Utilise all available resources and toolsets to investigate and resolve problems, to ensure the most appropriate solution is identified.
  • Accuracy and outstanding attention to detail.
  • Ability to work according to UK work hours.
