Job Description

Gunzilla Games seeks a Lead Render Programmer for their AAA Extraction Battle Royale shooter, Off The Grid. Responsibilities include leading the rendering team, setting coding standards, guiding programmer career development, collaborating with other departments to integrate render systems, architecting and building rendering systems in C++, creating documentation, and collaborating with Tech Art and art directors. The ideal candidate has 5-7 years' experience as a Render programmer in games, with at least one shipped AAA title, strong leadership, and expertise in rendering APIs (DirectX, Vulkan, or console APIs).
Must have:
  • 5-7 years render programming experience (AAA title)
  • Strong leadership and communication
  • Expertise in rendering APIs (DirectX, Vulkan)
  • Proficient in C++
  • Understanding of 3D rendering algorithms
Good to have:
  • Unreal Engine 4 or 5 experience
  • Familiarity with low-level systems (physics, networking, memory)

ABOUT THE JOB

Gunzilla Games is looking to recruit a Lead Render programmer to join us to work on our game OTG (Off The Grid), an all-new AAA Extraction Battle Royale shooter, currently available as Early Access on PlayStation®5, Xbox® Series X|S, and PC.

As our lead, you will lead our rendering team to ensure high coding standards and guide the career development of Programmers within the team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Lead Render Programmer, you will:

  • Take leadership for the Rendering engineers through a combination of coaching, direction-setting, and hands-on engineering
  • Collaborate with Design, Development, Production, and Product leadership to ensure that Render systems are well-integrated and support overall game goals.
  • Collaborate with our Tech Art department and art directors to provide effective solutions
  • Architect, prototype, build, and maintain rendering systems in high-quality C++.
  • Create detailed and highly accessible documentation for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5-7 years experience as a Render programmer in games, with at least one Shipped AAA title
  • Exhibit strong leadership qualities such as motivation, positivity, and active listening
  • Foster high standards in communication, collaboration, and coding
  • Oversee technical planning and task delegation
  • Strong understanding of 3D rendering algorithms and related mathematics.
  • Strong knowledge of one or more rendering APIs such as DirectX, Vulkan or console ones
  • Expertise in multiple programming languages, including C++
  • Strong understanding of low-level systems such as physics, networking, and memory
  • Familiarity with game engines, IDEs, source control, and build infrastructure
  • Experience working as a render developer on Unreal Engine 4 or 5
