The Manager, Localization Editing (Brazilian Portuguese) is responsible for ensuring accuracy of information, adherence to house style, and enforcement of grammatical standards, as well as maintaining brand accuracy in all materials in their language of expertise. The highest quality standards must be met under firm deadlines with a range of partners inside and outside the company.
The Manager, Localization Editing (Brazilian Portuguese) is comfortable with and capable of overseeing, assessing, and organizing the daily workload of a team of localization editors in a fast-paced work environment while being a key contributor.
The Manager, Localization Editing (Brazilian Portuguese) demonstrates superior linguistic skills in their language of expertise, with a keen eye for organization and precision. As they are required to lead and motivate their language team, as well as communicate effectively with a series of internal and external teams, excellent project management and communication skills in both English and their language of expertise are required for this role.
The successful candidate is comfortable being the go-to person for all linguistic queries concerning their language of expertise as well as delegating task responsibilities while remaining accountable for the outcome of the delegated work.

What you’ll do
In this role, you will collaborate with fellow managers of the Localization Editing team and other stakeholders to facilitate the work of a group of localization editors, ensuring on-time deliveries, the highest quality standards, and well-informed, proactive team members. In addition to carrying out the responsibilities of a localization editor, you will perform managerial duties such as project and people management, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and other duties as assigned.
- Manage the editorial activities of a team of Brazilian Portuguese localization editors working on diverse projects for multiple channels.
- Translate, edit, localize, adapt, proof, and review a variety of materials, such as templates, rulebooks, brand- and product-related text, press releases and other marketing materials, and more.
- Interact daily with other teams and departments in Seattle and in the company’s UK office.
- Provide regular progress reports and updates to in-house management and stakeholders.
- Evaluate the performance of a team of Brazilian Portuguese localization editors.
- Interview and hire localization editors on an as-needed basis.
What you’ll bring
- All applicants must provide a cover letter (approximately 250 words in Brazilian Portuguese) along with their résumé. This will be a qualification to the role.
- All selected applicants must complete an aptitude test and an interview test to measure their skills.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- 6+ years of editing experience publishing under regular deadlines
- 1+ year of people and project management experience and the demonstrated ability to handle simultaneous tasks in an organized manner
- Leadership experience a plus
- Superior Brazilian Portuguese linguistic skills and a focused eye for detail
- Excellent communication and project management skills, including the proven ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects
- Experience in working with a team of editors and localization professionals in multiple languages
- Demonstrated experience using MS Word, Excel, and specialized technical programs, plus a ready facility with learning new tools
- Adaptive skills for working in an environment that features tight deadlines and shifting schedules
- Previous experience in the gaming industry a plus
Base Salary Range: For this role, new hires generally start between $114,000.00 - $135,850.00 per year. The full range is $114,000.00 - $171,000.00 per year. This range is applicable for the labor market where the role is intended to be hired. The final base salary is directly related to the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience uniquely.
