The NPI Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for leading the end-to-end New Product Introduction (NPI) process, ensuring a smooth transition from product development to manufacturing. This includes driving Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Test (DFT). The engineer will manage pilot builds, pre-production runs, and full ramp-up activities, and develop scalable manufacturing processes and work instructions. The role involves leading cross-functional problem-solving, utilizing Lean tools for continuous improvement, and collaborating with various teams to meet cost, quality, and delivery targets. This individual will also conceptualize, design, fabricate, and deploy manufacturing equipment and tooling. The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a global environment.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years of NPI engineering experience in high-volume manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and capacity planning
  • Ability to work globally with engineering staff in numerous remote locations
Good to have:
  • Lean knowledge preferred
  • Experience with controls PLCs, robotics, AGV’s AMH, AMR’s, HMI’s, DC tools, vision systems

We have an opportunity for an NPI (New Product Introduction) Engineer to join our team located in Apex, NC. We are looking for a results- driven individual with a strong background in HVM (High Volume Manufacturing) within a Lean environment. The successful candidate will play a role in launching new products into full-scale production, driving manufacturability, scalability and continuous improvement from early design through ramp-up.

You will:

· Lead the end-to-end NPI process, ensuring seamless handoff from product development to manufacturing

· Partner with our NPD and design teams to drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Test (DFT)

· Plan and manage pilot builds, pre-production runs, and full ramp-up activities to ensure readiness for production

· Develop, document, and refine scalable manufacturing processes, work instructions, and line layouts aligned with Lean principles

· Drive process standardization, cycle time reduction, and throughput improvement

· Lead cross-functional problem-solving efforts to identify and eliminate process inefficiencies and quality issues, own and drive PFMEA activities throughout the process life cycle

· Collaborate with supply chain, quality and operations teams to ensure cost, quality and delivery targets are met

· Utilize Lean tools such as value stream mapping, 5S, Kaizen and mistake-proofing to support continuous improvement initiatives

· Conceptualize, design, fabricate and deploy manufacturing equipment & tooling focused on safety, quality and cost

· Communicate project status to stakeholders and follow up to ensure project results are sustained

You should:

· Have earned at least a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent

· At least 5yrs of experience in NPI engineering within a high-volume manufacturing environment

· Strong understanding of manufacturing processes development, capacity planning, and production line scaling

· Lean knowledge preferred

· Be able to work globally with engineering staff in numerous remote locations while respecting & understanding differing cultures

· Experience with controls PLCs, robotics, AGV’s AMH, AMR’s, HMI’s, DC tools, vision systems is a plus

· Have a drive for results and the willingness to take initiative

· Have excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing

· Have a high level of self-motivation and urgency and demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines

· Ability to travel 25% is preferred as demand requires

Compensation:

For this full-time position working at this location, the anticipated annualized base pay range will be from $71,000- $131,800 / year. At Pentair, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the pay range. Pentair considers various factors in determining actual compensation for this position at the expected location. Actual compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, work location, and other relevant business or organizational needs.

This position may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as, annual incentive bonus.
