We have our own film and mo-cap studio, we create board games, publish books, and through 2000AD, publish comics and graphic novels such as the amazing Judge Dredd.

We operate across multiple UK locations, with studios based in Oxford, Warwick, Liverpool, and Wakefield. Work-life balance is important to us, and we want everyone at Rebellion to work in the way that works best for them. So, if you are based in the UK, we are always open to discussing how we can support flexible/hybrid working options.

We are on the lookout for a Principal VFX Artist to join our passionate and growing VFX team, to help work on a variety of thrilling unannounced projects we have in the works.

As a highly experienced member of the VFX team, your role is to deliver art content at the highest possible quality. Your focus will be in a number of areas where your skills and experience can be best utilised to solve new pipelines, bring artwork up to standard and to assist the Lead Artist.

Responsibilities:

  • With direction from project lead, create consistent high-quality VFX at all levels of complexity, while proactively collaborating across all disciplines.
  • Drive best practices for production pipeline improvements and projects by taking ownership of key areas of documentation.
  • Challenge, identify and help re-define technical and artistic VFX processes such as new project tools and functions.
  • Track and update the progress of day-to-day tasks using the designated tracking tools.
  • Proactively drive optimisation and debugging.
  • Reference game design documents to maintain project consistency.
  • Understand team skillset and gaps in relation to the project. Facilitate knowledge sharing where needed and provide this feedback to the lead.

Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of a game engine particle system editor.
  • Excellent knowledge of Houdini’s Particle Simulation or EmberGen.
  • Expert knowledge of 2D particle texture creation.
  • An expert knowledge of Photoshop, Substance Designer or other 2D packages.
  • Knowledge of Perforce.
  • Able to translate concept and reference artwork into real-time particle effects, and an ability to produce high quality art assets.
  • Knowledge of 3d software such as 3D Studio Max, Maya, and Blender.
  • Knowledgeable of lighting and HDR.

Benefits

We offer an extensive benefits package to our team including:

  • 22 days holidays + Christmas closure (typically 4 days) & Bank holidays (increasing with service at 5 years – one day each year until you reach 31 days)
  • Private Medical Insurance, healthcare cash plan, including dental and Vision
  • Life Assurance, Income Protection & Critical Illness Cover
  • Enhanced Family Leave
  • Interest Free, Tax-Free loans
