As a Production Coordinator, you will manage the entire production process of Macmillan’s TVET publications. This involves coordinating with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure timely, efficient, and high-quality production of printed and digital materials. Responsibilities include managing the end-to-end production process, coordinating with publishing, editorial, and marketing teams, liaising with external suppliers, monitoring budgets, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. You will also troubleshoot production-related issues to maintain a smooth workflow.
Must have:
  • Matric certificate
  • Proven experience as a production coordinator
  • Strong understanding of publishing production processes
  • Advanced computer literacy and proficiency in project management tools
  • Knowledge of Adobe applications
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills
Good to have:
  • Proficiency in electronic origination/composition
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

About the Role

Macmillan Education South Africa is seeking a skilled Production Coordinator to join our TVET publishing team  based in Midrand. As a Production Coordinator, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the entire production process of Macmillan’s market-leading TVET publications. This includes coordinating with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure the timely, efficient and high-quality production of printed and digital materials.

 

Role Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end production process, ensuring schedules are met and quality standards are upheld

  • Co-ordinate with publishing, editorial and marketing teams to align production timelines and deliverables

  • Liaise with external suppliers to obtain quotes, track progress of commissioned work and resolve any issues

  • Monitor and track budgets, costs and timelines to ensure projects stay within scope

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies

  • Troubleshoot any production-related issues, ensuring a smooth workflow

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

  • Matric certificate

  • Proficiency in electronic origination/composition (qualification an advantage)

  • Proven experience as a production coordinator/controller or in a similar role within publishing or print production

  • Strong understanding of publishing production processes, from concept to final delivery

  • Advanced computer literacy and proficiency in project management tools and Microsoft Office suite

  • Knowledge of Adobe applications including but not limited to Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign

  • Exceptional organisational and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast-paced environment

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills including written and spoken English
