Job Description

The Director of Business Development for OSA Government Sales in North America will be responsible for overseeing new business opportunities, creating strategic business relationships, and supporting ADTRAN's sales force within the US Department of Defense and governmental agencies. This role involves presenting and evangelizing ADTRAN's Oscilloquartz timing & synchronization solutions, meeting with target accounts, attending trade shows, and supporting the sales team with training. The director will also spearhead business development initiatives, identify and evaluate new markets and products, and build relationships with key strategic partners. Other projects and assignments will be assigned to accommodate the changing needs of the department and the Company.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5-8 years' experience in Position, Navigation & Timing (PNT) industry.
  • Experience selling into the US Department of Defense and agencies.
  • Proficiency in Windows or Mac OS X and Microsoft Office.

Job Summary

The Director BD OSA - Government Sales North America, will be responsible for overseeing new business opportunities and developments, creating strategic business relationships, and supporting ADTRAN ‘s sales force in the US Department of Defense and US Governmental agencies.  

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert, engaged by the sales team to present and evangelize ADTRAN’s portfolio of Oscilloquartz timing & synchronization solutions to DoD customers and partners at a detailed level.
  • Meet with target DoD and US Governmental accounts
  • Attend key trade shows in DoD and US Government space
  • Support development of technical and positioning training to the sales team on new solutions, products, and features.
  • Spearhead business development initiatives that are consistent with ADTRAN's strategic direction.  
  • Work with product management to identify and evaluate new markets for existing products.  
  • Identify and evaluate new products for existing markets, provide field expertise for day-to-day interaction on the product lines, and identify the strategic business opportunities and potential tactics needed to win new business opportunities.  
  • Carefully align with product management and sales to win new business opportunities.  
  • Identify, build, and manage long-term relationships with key strategic partners in the Department of Defense and DoD contractor markets.  
  • Other projects and assignments may result and be assigned to accommodate the changing needs of the department and the Company. 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Information Science required.  
    • Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.  
  • 5-8 years' experience in the Position, Navigation & Timing (PNT) industry with specific knowledge and skills in timing & synchronization.   
  • Experience selling into the US Department of Defense and other governmental agencies
  • Proficiency in Windows OS or Mac OS X, Microsoft Office: PowerPoint, Excel, and Word required.  
  • Regular travel is expected in this position to support ADTRAN's business development needs. 
  • Located in the Washington DC area
