Job Description

The ROC Specialist at Warner Bros. Discovery coordinates and oversees live sports and entertainment operations, ensuring consistency and collaboration between various teams. Responsibilities include technical planning and coordination for MFP productions, resolving production issues, monitoring video/audio signals, leading technical meetings, and preparing documentation. On-site support includes setup, quality control, troubleshooting, and liaison between site and PCR operations. The role also involves communication of technical issues, collaboration with various teams, and evaluating future technology for remote operations. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to handle the pressure of live programming.
Must have:
  • 4+ years broadcast production experience
  • Proficient in technical planning & documentation
  • Manage & monitor video/audio signals
  • Video & audio router operations expertise
  • Knowledge of industry A/V standards
  • Problem-solving & communication skills
  • Ability to work independently & in teams
  • Flexibility to work non-traditional hours
Good to have:
  • TD, A1, Engineering or Technical Manager experience

Your New Role...
The ROC Specialist provides coordination, oversight, communication, and documentation necessary to establish and maintain consistency in our Live Sports and Entertainment Operations. This position will also maintain collaborative relationships between WBD Techwood Studios Technical Operations and Remote Technical Operations teams, BEST Engineering and our Sports and Entertainment partners.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to make decisions under pressure, delegate tasks effectively, and communicate efficiently in a fast-paced environment to resolve any issues that arise. This position will maintain a technical monitoring station during live shows at critical times.

Your Role Accountabilities...

Technical Planning and Coordination:

  • Manage and communicate the technical details of all MFP productions.
  • Resolve potential production issues and resource conflicts in advance of production.
  • Determine and monitor incoming/outgoing video for all live MFP productions.
  • Lead pre and post-show technical meetings as necessary.
  • Prepare and distribute documentation of details of the event.

Studios On-Site Event Support:

  • Assist with set up, fax, and ensure production plans are followed.
  • QC (Quality Control) video and audio signals for air.
  • Ensure incoming/outgoing routing is configured and routed accordingly.
  • Function as the audio and video liaison between site and PCR (Production Control Room) operations.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and communicate to appropriate teams to help resolve.
  • Work with onsite operators to fax off site equipment.
  • Manage network VLAN’s to production equipment.

Communication and Documentation:

  • Provide timely, high-level communication of technical issues that impact live productions.
  • Collaborate with Studio and Remote Technical Operations, BEST, and Operations to ensure smooth technical set up and execution for productions.

Strategic Technology Evaluation:

  • Collaborate with Production, Technical Operations, and Engineering to evaluate and determine the strategic use of future technology used in the Remote Operations Center and areas it touches.
  • Assess technical operations methods and recommend changes where necessary.

Qualifications & Experiences...

  • BS/BA degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of network-level broadcast production experience for live game, live remote, and/or live studio productions.
  • Proficiency in technical planning and documentation for live sports, news, or entertainment productions.
  • Experience in managing and monitoring video and audio signals for live events.
  • Proficient in video and audio router operations.
  • Knowledge of current industry audio and video standards.
  • Familiarity with Remote Operations, Production Control Room operations, and technical liaison roles.
  • Ability to lead technical meetings and resolve issues proactively.
  • Must be able to work independently, and with small and large teams.
  • Must be flexible and able to work non-traditional hours, including weekends and holidays.

Not Required but preferred experience:

  • TD, A1, Engineering or Technical Manager experience.
  • Ability to handle the pressures of live programming and limited time constraints.
  • Open to travel if required.
