Senior Backend Engineer

ROLE: Sr. Backend Developer

REPORTING TO: Head of Engineering

OFFICE: Bangalore, India

Rockstar engineers, who want to make a positive impact by building high scale, resilient and fault tolerant systems to power the shipping industry in a 24/7 business environment.

A strong background in software engineering, design and architecture, as well as extensive experience of developing software in a SOA or micro-services paradigm. Proven technical leadership and a background of implementing best practices, especially around scalability, availability and performance. Strong fundamentals on different data stores, especially RDBMS.

Must Haves:

· B.Tech in Computer Science or ECE from a reputed institution

· Sound knowledge of data structures and algorithms

· Strong RDMS fundamentals, and good at entity modeling

· A track-record of proactively finding and solving problems in systems and codebase

· Ability to design and architect scalable, resilient and fault tolerant systems with high availability and no SPOF

· Expert-level practical and theoretical knowledge of Javascript development and substantial experience of event-driven architectures

· Willingness to continuously learn and grow

· Excellent in communication and collaboration

· Most importantly: “Never give up” and “Can do & will do” attitude

Desirable Skills:

· Python and shell scripting

· Knowledge of Linux internals

· Elastic / Solr search

· Message queues

· Write every line of code that cannot be optimized any further

· Write well documented and maintainable code

· Proactively look for problems and suggest improvements

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams for E2E solution: define, architect and develop

· Mentor team by driving architecture, code reviews and best practices
