Job Description

Tesla seeks a Senior Counsel, Energy Products EMEA, based in Amsterdam. Reporting to the Assistant General Counsel, Energy Products, you'll advise on strategic, regulatory, and transactional matters for the EMEA energy business (residential, commercial, industrial, utility-scale solar, energy storage, and supercharging). Responsibilities include structuring and negotiating agreements (equipment supply, EPC, O&M, etc.), supporting project development and M&A transactions, reviewing RFPs, supporting new market entries and product launches. The ideal candidate possesses a big-firm background in energy-focused project finance or construction, a passion for sustainable energy, and strong negotiation skills.

Must have:

EMEA jurisdiction license
Big-firm experience
Energy transaction structuring
Negotiation of large transactions
Renewable energy experience preferred
Problem identification and solution provision
Teamwork and communication skills

Good to have:

In-house energy industry experience
Project finance expertise

What to Expect

Tesla is looking for a Senior Counsel, Energy Products, based in our Amsterdam, Netherlands, office to support the growth of our global energy business. Reporting to the Assistant General Counsel, Energy Products, you will focus on our residential, commercial & industrial and utility-scale solar and energy storage and supercharging businesses in EMEA and our expansion into emerging markets.

Our ideal candidate would have a big-firm background in (energy-focused) project finance or construction and be passionate about accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy. This is a great opportunity for a proactive and entrepreneurial lawyer to work at a fast growing and dynamic company.

What You’ll Do

Provide advice on a wide variety of strategic, regulatory and transactional matters for the Energy business in EMEA, including commercial and consumer matters
Structure and negotiate equipment supply, EPC, O&M, commodity, software, real property, interconnection, performance guarantee, warranty and other material project agreements for solar, energy storage and supercharger projects of all sizes, support project development and mergers and acquisitions transactions and have a good familiarity with financing-related matters
Review and help prepare responses to requests for proposals and other competitive tenders
Support new market entry and new product launches for the Energy Products business around the world

What You’ll Bring

A current licence to practice in one or more EMEA jurisdictions
Experience at a well-regarded law firm, with in-house experience at a company in the energy industry strongly preferred
Experience structuring and leading negotiation of large transactions in energy, construction, project finance or a related practice area, with a preference for renewable energy experience
A team player with the ability to proactively identify problems, drive projects, make complex cost/benefit assessments, and identify pragmatic/creative legal and business solutions
Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively and to juggle competing priorities in a fast-paced, challenging environment
A quick and flexible learner, intellectually curious, open-minded, adaptable, comfortable with ambiguity and risk, and excited by dynamic change
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to quickly earn the confidence of your colleagues and effectively communicate with people at all levels of the organization
