What you will do:
The Senior Marketing Manager for Location Based Entertainment (LBE) will lead the Marketing Manager, and provide support to the Marketing Director on all initiatives relating to The Rec Room and Playdium brands. This role is accountable for the end to end ownership of full funnel marketing initiatives, collaborating with and leading cross functional teams, and supporting strategic planning. This role also has ownership of integral routines, including quarterly business reporting, and monthly budgeting and invoicing.
Note: This is a hybrid role, based out of the Cineplex Head Office at 1303 Yonge St, Toronto. This is a contract position to approximately September 2026.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead initiatives (ex. brand equity campaigns, marketing tactics) from business case development, to briefing, to execution leading cross functional teams; define the marketing strategy, conduct financial modelling to evaluate financial impact, develop and gain alignment on the business case, evaluate media (owned, partner, earned and paid) opportunities, brief and approve Creative Services, Media, and Social deliverables, and post report on performance.
- Lead the Marketing Manager, providing daily support and guidance on marketing initiatives, and providing feedback and coaching on growth opportunities for professional development.
- Support the Marketing Director on annual strategy planning, ongoing development of strategic recommendations based on data and insights, and guiding budgetary decisions.
- Partner and contribute to critical business workstreams fundamental to business transformation, acting as a subject matter expert leveraging brand insights and data within cross functional teams.
- Own the LBE Marketing budget, requiring ongoing maintenance via invoice processing, monthly budgeting and accruals, and providing recommendations on spend as business needs arise. Must demonstrate financial acumen and experience managing and making financial decisions.
- Responsible for analyzing and reporting on business performance and marketing performance, including quarterly business reviews, and campaign post reports. Must demonstrate financial acumen, as well as paid media KPIs.
Education & Certification
- College Diploma in Marketing or Business Administration
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Business Administration preferred
Experience
- 6-7 years of marketing strategy and brand management experience.
- Strong experience leading and developing strategic, targeted marketing plans; leveraging insights and data to develop integrated strategies across the customer journey, including traditional, out of home, experiential, and digital touch points.
- Experience in managing a budget and financial planning.
- Strong experience working with creative agencies; from insight development and excellent brief writing, to managing creative asset development, creative feedback, production, asset management and delivery.
- Strong experience working with media agencies; reviewing media strategies and plans that support marketing and business objectives including analysis of plan success based on data insights and KPIs.
- Strong experience taking part in cross functional team-based projects and assuming a lead role in guiding the project from ideation to implementation.
- Strong experience with program development, revenue projections, offer modeling to campaign analysis and reporting on results that support marketing and business objectives.
- Experience as a people managing, leading direct reports, providing coaching and feedback, and fostering team culture.

- Strong marketing strategy and brand management experience, with demonstrated ability to act as a subject matter expert and demonstrated ownership of all facets of brand, connecting marketing decisions to broader business priorities and performance.
- Strong strategic thinking skills, with demonstrated ability to interpret and utilize data and insights to develop recommendations connected to business priorities.
- Strong project management, relationship building, and leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to lead cross functional teams from briefing to execution.
- Strong analytical skills, including analyzing data to build forecasts and post report on learnings with recommendations with an understanding of financial objectives.
- Strong creative skills, with demonstrated ability to author creative briefs, unlocking a consumer insight and messaging, and providing strategic feedback on creative assets.
- Experience as a people manager leading a team, including coaching, professional development, and fostering team culture.
- Ability to manage and operate comfortably at a tactical level, understanding Cineplex processes and being able to lead and coach the team’s Manager and Coordinator on tactical deliverables.
- Ability to influence across and up without reporting line authority, acting as a subject matter expert and ambassador of The Rec Room and Playdium.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including brief writing, development of business cases, and delivering presentations to senior leadership.
- Experience managing significant budget sizes, with demonstrated financial acumen and comfort relating to invoicing, monthly routines, and prudent financial decision making.
