Job Description

As a Lead Environment Artist, you will take charge of the environment of a game level. You'll work with your team in the editor, providing artistic and technical support for the architectural level. You'll plan and allocate tasks, considering timelines and constraints, and interact with the Assistant Art Director to understand and share the direction with your team. You'll also solve artistic problems, interact with design and tech teams, find innovative points of view, assist in scoping and planning, document processes, redefine limitations, communicate with managers, and participate in performance evaluations.
Must have:
  • 8+ years of experience as a 3D/Environment Artist, +1 year as a Lead.
  • Experience creating objects and environments with 3D and 2D software.
  • Knowledge of the trades related to video game production.
  • Knowledge of Maya/Blender and Photoshop.

  • Demonstrated initiative and creative spirit.
  • Good sense of responsibility and autonomy.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with other teams, share expertise

Job Details

LEAD ENVIRONMENT ARTIST

Reports to: Assistant Art Director

Permanent – Full-Time

 

What you will do

  • Take charge of the environment of a game level. We expect you to work in editor with your team;
  • Artistic and technical support for the architectural level;
  • Plan and allocate tasks for the members of the Level Art team while considering the timelines established according to the technical and artistic constraints;
  • Interact with the Assistant Art Director to understand the direction well and be able to share it effectively with the team;
  • Solve artistic problems in order to improve work processes;
  • Interact effectively with the design and tech teams;
  • Find a technically and visually innovative point of view;
  • Assist in scoping and planning for maps and milestones;
  • Document in detailed manner the processes and procedures;
  • Push back and redefine systematic and artistic limitations for the projects;
  • Interact and communicate effectively with managers on the project;
  • Participate in annual performance evaluations.

 

What you bring

  • Collegial or University degree in 2D-3D art and/or equivalent training;
  • +8 years of experience as a 3D and/or Environment Artist, including +1 year as a Lead;
  • Minimum of 2 published titles (at least 1 AAA), preferably developed on new generation consoles;
  • Experience creating objects or environments with 3D software as well as with 2D art application;
  • Knowledge of the trades related to video game production;
  • Knowledge of engine and game platforms technical constraints;
  • Knowledge of Maya/Blender and Photoshop;
